Surgery is set for Tuesday the 29 th at Carolina Medical Center Pineville which is here in Charlotte. I don't think there is any part of my body that has not been checked out. I am ready( at least as ready as anyone can be). I read where people usually go through a phase where they ask themselves, why me? Mine is more like , why not me. I am blessed to have excellent medical care and a wonderful and loving support group! I know that I can handle this from my presceptive better than if it were one of my children or loved one. Please keep me in your thought s and prayers next week as I will keep all of y'all in mine.

My scans show that I have a blockage in my left carotid artery. I will have further test on Monday or Tuesday and we will know more. This will have to be fixed before the heart. I am grateful and humbled by the fabulous doctors that God has put around me.
I am officially giving my guardian angel the day off for some much needed and deserved rest! It is a beautiful rainy day here in Charlotte. Happy Saturday and love and prayers to all.

I was born with a heart murmur which until recently did not bother me at all. During an EKG in November my cardiologist schedule a heart cath. The cath showed that I was on the borderline of severe stenosis with my aortic valve and regurgitating occurring in two other valves. The best course of action would be to monitor my heart every 6 months.
I began being short of breath approximately 2 months ago on my daily walks. I attributed it to the heat, Charlotte, NC in the summer can be brutal, and the air quality. Soon there after I noticed my daily activities caused shortness of breath and a general feeling of tiredness. I was scheduled for a check up in July so I thought we would address it at that time.
One month ago I had driven to Georgia, 3 hour drive, to attend the funeral of my friends mother . It was a beautiful summer day and I felt great. My daughter and I attended the service and went onto the cemetery . After the burial I stopped at my friends car to speak to her mother. That is the last thing I remembered until I came to in the back of her car with two fire trucks and 4 paramedics. My blood pressure had bottomed out.
A million test later I am scheduled for open heart by pass on July 22 at CMC Pineville with Dr. Larry Watts who is with the Sanger Clinic. I am very scared of the pain, it just sounds awful, but I am ready to get this fixed. I am very blessed with wonderful friends and family and a strong support system. I am only 58 and other than a bad valve in great shape. SEC football starts August 30th so I must be able to yell and scream by then! We all need a goal. God bless to all that are going through this and a speedy recovery to all.
