I've made it! On the other side now. Lots of healing to do :) Thanks again for all the well wishes, I used every one ;)
I now have a new On-X mechanical aortic valve to get used to along with several new medications.

I've chosen to get a mechanical valve because of my age. I don't think I'll want to go through this surgery more than once.
My valve choice is the On-X valve. My surgeon thought it is a fine choice and I really like the design and the potential... Read more.

Unfortunately, I developed a respiratory infection right after my pre-op testing and meeting. My primary put me on antibiotics and I quickly felt better, but the surgeon said it was a no go.
So I'm re-scheduled for May 20th. Let's hope things go more smoothly!
