I was surprised to see Dr. Adams endorsing this book. After my daughter\'s surgery i felt his surgical team needed a consult on the psychological aspects of patient care. We met Dr. Adams at the consultation before the surgery and didn\'t see him again until 2 days after the surgery. His team was not introduced before the surgery and we had daily visits from doctors we had never met. They minimized my daughters\' post-op physical condition and were not very sympathetic. One doctor made fun of her inability to walk on her own 3 days post-op (she was unsteady and used the wheeled walker). We recently went for her final visit with the team and the doctor (not Adams) laughed when she said she was going to rehab. He thought she should be fine without any help.
We have a wonderful cardiologist who has been there all the way and without her this would have been even more distressing.
