Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and thought I would give it ago as I'm struggling a little with my recovery journey. I am 26 and had a pulmonary valve replacement 16months ago. I have recovered fairly well but am struggling to get back my energy post surgery. All my test post op have shown great results but for some reason I don't feel that great physically or mentally. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there that is at a similar stage in their recovery that may be able to talk with me about how they are going. I'm looking forward to hearing all your stories and hope you are all going well on your journeys. Lily x

Clare Auten Welcome! Yes. Check on your medications. I am 19 months out from an aortic valve replacement. What has worked for me is to set small goals. For example, I started with walking 10 minutes and then add to it as time went on. I try to keep my goals attainable so I don't get upset that I didn't reach the goal. I am always morning exercuser. Once I get done walking, I feel that I have more energy for the day. Feel free to email if you need support. Autenclare@Gmail. Com. Good luck

Kyle Väth Lily, sorry you are feeling bad. I am only 7 weeks post-op so I am not where you are yet. But, I'm also am an RN and have taken care of lots of heart surgery folks. Cardiac Depression is very common with heart surgery as you probably know. It can present in physical as well as mental ways. Make sure you are getting enough fresh air and sunlight-Vitamin D is helpful in mood and energy. Light exercise as Clare also said is helpful for releasing natural "happy drugs" or endorphins to help you feel better physically and mentally. Hang in there! You'll turn a corner!
