September 2010-44 year old male. Diagnosed with Bacterial Endocarditis(s.aureus). Had Severe Sepsis with multiple organ failure,Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation,Multiple strokes(10 Ischemic and 2 with Hemorrhagic transformation), Thrombocytopenia requiring a Platelet transfusion and sloughing of Skin. Had surgery to replace Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Root as well as Ascending Aneurysm repair. Infection destroyed most of the Intraventricular Septum and burrowed a hole in the right Ventricle which resulted in a residual VSD. Surgery was 9.5 hours long and was performed with 103 degree Fever as well as Cerebral Edema. Yet to find anyone who has experienced so many complications. Incredibly, back to work in 4 months. Looking for anyone who has any experience with Valve replacement while critically ill and how they are feeling now. Homograft was used as Valve replacement.
