I'm so glad to hear that Trevor is doing so well. I had AV replacement at Duke on May 21 and it has been "interesting" on the road to recovery. Like many others here say, take one day at a time and then it becomes one week at a time. Do not over do it or you will pay for it for a couple of days.

Do what the doctors say and take it easy. It's as hard on the family as it is on the patient.

Nick is keeping up with the Journal and it has been a great source for him as he is at Fort McCoy with little contact with the real world so thank you for that! Tell Trevor to hang in there--the pain will go away with time and patience! Have been following your great postings on Trevor's progress and am really proud of him. It isn't an easy process because of the pain and the general feeling of being hit by that darned bus that has been striking all of us here. He knows what he has to do but doing it.....well, it just isn't easy. I used to say my husband took me for a drag because I was holding onto him for dear life. It is reassuring to see the tubes and gadgets removed one by one though. Keep strong. Give him my best. Praying for everyone.

I remember when I had my boys (c-sections) (I KNOW NO COMPARISON TREV but MY ONLY BIG STORY ON SURGERIES!! : - ))...anyway, they kept saying MOVE...it will make you recover faster. I REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR THAT...because I didn't want to BREATHE, much less MOVE! BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, YOU'LL BE BEATING YOUR BROTHERS IN GOLF AGAIN! :-)

Those of us who have had our surgeries have been there. Hoping they can get a better handle on the pain management as Trevor will move more and feel better. Once he's up more and moving about, he will feel better and his appetite will perk up. You might even get a smile from him. Mom, you need to nap when he naps and conserve your strength. It's hard on those who sit and wait. Praying for a great recovery.
