Dear Steve, We are so very thankful to God that you have made the first giant leap toward healing. You had to compose yourself to give up completely to God and to the surgeon's capable hands.
Family is such a blessing, and they must give you complete comfort to be there, to have held your hand. You draw strength from each other.
God guide the healing process, and get you on to your next goals of water-skiing, hiking, etc.!
Love, Aunt Marilynn Vanderhoofven

Steve, your friends at the office, at 1st Global and your many clients are all praying in ernest for your speedy recovery, and confident that you will be better than ever. There will be plenty of time for business matters at a later date....in the meantime, know that we have your back. I appreciate you, and will continue to pray for your complete healing and a speedy recovery. You are in the hands of a loving God, a loving wife and family, and many friends who care about you. Thank you, Cheri, for keeping us posted via this HVJ site. I look forward to following Steve's recovery the next month or so. He will be amazed with how will he'll feel with the new valve.

I had my aortic valve replaced in July 2011 and went back to work within 6 weeks (part-time) 8 weeks full time. I've been a sports massage therapist for 15 yrs.
One piece of advice, if I may? The muscles in his upper back between shoulder blades to mid back area will call out to him depending on his pain tolerance. Make sure he gets his back & should rubs often. It works better than pain meds.

My God continue to bless Steve with a wonderful life. Merry Christmas to you all.

Steve, Denise & Family....we are so happy to hear that things are going well. You have been in our thoughts and prayers. I just saw the journal, I had called the office this afternoon and they said the family was just going in to see him for the first time since surgery. I was happy to have had the opportunity to visit with Steve last week and we discussed his upcoming surgery. I know he is really looking forward to getting his energy level back and doing all the things he loves so much. It is a great day and the good Lord is listening to our prayers. Glad to hear you're doing well Steve - will be anxious to hear about your recovery. I am scheduled for my aortic valve replacement on January 19 at the VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. Needles to say, I am very nervous - have had a heart murmur all my life and now they say it's taken its toll. Feel free to email me if and when you can. Would like to know how things are going and what to expect.

The worst is over,,,the waiting. Now on to recovery. My husband had his aortic valve replaced (bovine) on 9/14. He's 67 and by the beginning of December I would say he was almost back to normal. I found the toughest part was when he came home and every little bump in the road was a cause for anxiety but the cardiologist was wonderful. God bless Steve. He' will be fine.

Am praying for you and believing with you with every confidence the procedure will be successful and your strength will be renewed like the eagle's.

Hi Steve,

I hope that your surgery has gone well. I had valve replacement surgery just over two years ago -- I had aortic stenosis related to a bicuspid aortic valve. Just want you to know that you're going to feel much, much better after this. Okay, maybe not the first week. But after that, yes!

Hi Steve! I am praying for you and for a very swift recovery. I had my aortic valve replaced February 22, 2010 by Dr. Spann's partner Dr. James Whiteneck. You are in good hands. I live here in Tulsa and I have a journal here as well. Let me know if you or your family have any questions or need a fellow valve patient to talk to.
Good luck & God bless!
