I am very happy to hear everyone is doing well. After rewatching on youtube the turtle and bugs race, I am now cracking up at the sylvester/bugs/tweetie/dog skit when they are all in the hospital smashing each others casts. To a speedy recovery to all of you.

That's enough with the injuries guys. By the way, what do I have to break to get to stay in bed and watch SpongeBob??? Scoot over I am in. Seriously, take care of Beavis and Butthead and everyone will be up and running, swimming and moving soon. Sending the good healing ju-ju your way!!!

OK, are you Granicks just looking for attention now? For reals!!! I guess they say "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger"....Nanny Annie do you feel stronger yet?????

Yikes! You better bubble wrap Max and Johnny...no more trips to the hospital! Glad everyone is home and recovering. I am sure it is nice for Steve to have a "sick" buddy. Lots of love-Lindy

No way!!!! We are so sorry to hear about Conor! Poor kiddo. I separated my shoulder this winter and was in a sling - so I can totally relate to mini-Steve! Hang in there guys! Sponge Bob will get you through! :) Hope you two are enjoying each other's company as you mend. Anne, Max and Johnny......BE SAFE! ....no more patients allowed! ;) - love, Leslie and Rob

Wow, when it rains it pours I guess. Maybe the patients will get lucky and there will be a Sponge Bob marathon on this weekend. I had to tell Aidan what happened so I could use the term "speed wobbles".

Conor! Way to go, pal!

That's the way to show Dad it's time to stop hogging all the attention. Glad to hear you're handling your ordeal with as much grace as the old man is handling his. Feel better. You too, Steve.

And Anne: You need a vacation, soon.

Anne! So sorry to hear of Connor's (and ultimately yours!) debacle. Sending all our best your way and "hang in there girl!"

Hi Dad,

I'm not sure Mom could have written a sweeter post. Pretty awesome to have a babe like her at your side.

She says that you're still 'mentally quick.' Really. Let me know when I can come over and challenge you to a dual in Connect 4. Guarantee I smoke you. I lose - I drink. You lose - I drink.

Your Son :)

Anne, thank you for sharing the story through this journal -it has been touching and a great reminder to cherish our loved ones all the time, regardless of health emergencies or other events that might especially call for it! Manette and I are SO glad Steve is doing well and the process has ended up being a (difficult but) ultimately positive one for you guys. Hope to see you both soon!

Way to make me cry AGAIN! I was very happy to open my email this morning and see there was a posting. It had been 4 days! I was about to remind you two, to get back to it! So very glad that the old man is doing so good - it is amazing! Will drop by to say hi over the weekend. Please let us know if you need anything at all! Love and hugs.
On January 28, 2011...
Although I have spent time with you and Steve and he looks amazing, I still wait for your written updates! I sure wish I'd realized that his mental quickness was working OT before I had him set me up to play words with friends the other night..he would've kicked my a$$ before so this should go well :)
All joking aside you both are truly wonderful, which we knew before all of this, and it's an honor to be your friend and neighbor!
MJ

P.S. When Megan found out I was driving Conor to polo on Sat she said, hmm..maybe I'll go so I can drive. Rest assured if I do let her, we will get him there first and she can drive home ;)

Steve & Anne, We have been tracking your progress via Anne's great updates and this great site. It's good to hear that you are doing so well and headed home to Anne, your boys, a comfortable setting and hopefully some solid and restful hours of sleep. Please know that there are many who care that your big heart keeps on keeping on, so please be good to your aorta and don't push it while you are on the mend. Lots of love, Rob, Jennifer, Ryan & Jessica

Wow, I just found out about your surgery Steve. I am glad to hear that everything is going smoothly. I know you are a big strong mofo so I am sure you will get through this no problemo. Take care and know that we are all rooting for you (even though you went to UCLA!). Aortic "regurgitation" -- Wasnt that what Yama did at Hennessey's long ago? LOL. I am sure you are in great hands with Anne and the kids. Take care, -Rei, Nadia, Jeremy, Nicolas, and Samuel.

Hi Anne and Steve, we are so glad everything is going so well. Take your time Steve, recovery is hard work...After I got out of the hospital last year Dino decided I needed to start on a walking program to regain my strength. The first day I walked one and a half minutes and then one and a half minutes back to the car. I am now up to 40 minutes and very proud of myself. Steve if you need a walking partner call me. I don't jog, run or do hills but I'm here for you...XXOO Carol

Hey Steve, so glad you are going home and recovering so quickly. We've been thinking and praying for you everyday! The Italian's out here say you start drinking red wine and eating pizza right away to help your heart heal faster! I'm doing it as a preventitive measure right now.

Hello Steve,
Just checked in and learned about this adventure. Relieved to hear you are home. No doubt continuous laughter speeds the healing. You will be full force in short order. I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts. Cheers, EC "Cowboy"

Stevie,
Home so soon? That's awesome! I know it was (is) tremendously uncomfortable in the hospital, especially with those tubes in. I'm a GREAT believer that recovery accelerates away from the depressing confines of the hospital....You're well on your way. See you soon.

Yay!! We will give you a day or two to adjust to the comforts of home and then will have to at least peek my head over the wall or through the side door to see you're smiling face in the Archie Bunker chair. Soooo glad you're home and on the road to recovery under Nurse Anne's program with help from her 3 assistants. If they, by chance, aren't giving you the care you need we Bustios girls will bring you over the air horn or a special pager to use so we know you need help ;) <3

Anne,

You and Steve are truly some of the most inspiring, loving, resolved and strongest people during difficult times, that we have ever known. To go through all of this and still find time to share with all of your friends and family in such detail is over the top and illustrates your sentiment and self control.
Not everyone can say they could handle this the way the Granicks have...it makes us prould to say we know you.

In true Stevo humor fashion, I was LMAO at the comment to the nurse, "if you hurt me, I'll crush you like a grape!"....classic.

We wish you guys so much speedy success with Steve's recovery. We miss and love you.

We'll be rooting for you.

B-you are amazing. You ability and willingness to share these milestones with all if Stevos fans -boy has he got them snowed - has been inspirational. Had anyone suggested that the tall skinny guy down the hall would be the love of my sisters life, I would have laughed. Ok so maybe I did, but now I am just purely thankful. Thankful that you have him, that he has you, and that this week has been so positive. We love the Granick clan very much. Robin sends hugs and AJ wants to know when he can take advantage of the gimp in a games of cards. I think Hearts is in order. Xoxo M

We are so gald to hear that you're doing so well...didn't even know about the surgery until yesterday! We were really surprised to hear about it but so gald the news is so good. We're not at all surprised that Steve's humor didn't take long to shine through again. His doctors are probably enjoying having him around. You are such a wonderfully close and loving family...that will make the recovery a much easier process. If there is ANYTHING we can do to help you out, please let us know. Steve: Your spirit and Annie's spirit as reflected in the journals certainly bode well for a great recovery. We can't imagine you with a buzz cut, but that will save lots of painful vanity episodes in the coming weeks. We're delighted to learn that your procedure(s) went well, and that you are finally out of ICU and in a normal room. Your heart was strong before the surgery, and just think how strong it will be when you are fully recovered. We'll continue to read the journals faithfully. Hugs to you, Annie, and your boys. "Because our own human existence is so dependent on the help of others our need for love lies at the very foundation of our existence."
Thought it was cool enough to share.
