Ruth I am about 7 weeks post op. Still remember those first days, but I get stronger everyday. Unfortunately, my whole family except my 7 year old son got the flu this week. Caring for them is wearing me out. But, I can. I have cooked, cleaned, changed sheets, etc. I am amazed at myself considering where I was less than 2 months ago.

Ruth Valenzuela You are the typical mother! When it comes to our loved ones, we move mountains. It is good to hear you can do all those things. It's quite amazing.. My greatest fear is waking up with that darn breathing tube. I'm wondering if they can remove it before I wake up...

I agree with Dora and Meredith. Open Heart Surgery is not something I would have chosen but I am thankful that they were able to fix my heart problem before somethng bad happened. Recovery is not a bed of roses. It has ups and downs. Faith and trust, friends and family make it possible. I am 46. My surgery was 1/9/14. I have three kids including a 5 year old. This was a shock for me, I didn't learn I needed surgery until after Christmas. Work on getting healthy. Stay on the insurance company if you need to. You can do this!

Hi Ruth! I don't *want* to do it wither, but it's got to be done. I found that reading and gathering information was strangely calming for me. Others are just the opposite. I understand your frustrations with the insurance companies. I've argued with them, had my employer's health advocate call them, cried on the phone to them, and I'm 6 days away from surgery with the doctor I want at the hospital I chose. I hope you fight for your health! Please keep in touch!

Ruth Valenzuela Meredith, I find reading all the testimonies on others that have gone through this is encouraging. I haven't got to the calming state yet. lol If my next echo is cancelled again, I will put up a major fight. I'll be praying for your upcoming surgery and keeping tabs.

Ruth Valenzuela Thank you for writing. It is really nice to be able to talk with those that have gone through the surgery. I believe I read your story but will have to go back and refresh myself. Thanks for your encouraging words and May God continue to bless you. I too put my faith and trust in Him.
