Hi Mike,

I'm another CC alum and hope all of your procedures go well and that your recovery is as fast and easy as mine! I think you will look back and be thankful that they were so incredibly careful about infection before surgery.

My cardiologist didn't think I should go to CC because I would just be a number but you will soon find out that the number is ONE! I can't say enough for that hospital. Knowing what I know now, if CC were half way around the world, I would still make the trip.

Dr. Rosseli gets rave reviews so I am sure you will come through with flying colors!

Keep us posted!

Hi Mike,
Malinda emailed me that you were having surgery this week. I'll be keeping you in my prayers and special prayers for you and your doctors throughout the day of your surgery. It sounds like you picked an excellent team and you have full confidence in them. That's important.
It'll be good to get this done and behind you, won't it? Keep a positive outlook and know that prayers are being said.
God Bless You,

Hey Mike, sounds like things are going good. I've communicated with Buck, Hahn, Suiter, Kline and Spodeck. We've got you on the prayer list at Trinity United Methodist Church in the big town of Lapel, I had to laugh when I got a call from the Church secretary asking if this was Carol Hannah's Mike. We changed your name to Paul Michael Hannah, saw the other Mike in Church Sunday and cautioned him about getting a call. Good luck Pal, wishing you the best.....Chaney

Mike & Malinda,
Glad to hear that you have arrived safely. It's nice that the guest house is close to the clinic. It will make it easier for both of you. By the time you get this, most of your tests will be over and you will be able to eat. Isn't it amazing how hungry you get when told not to eat?

Hi Mike

Hope you had a nice drive to Ohio. It was sure a nice day to travel. We have been thinking about you and Malinda and we just wanted you to know you are certainly in our thoughts and prayers. We have shared the news of your procedure with our church family and we are sure the will and power of God will be with you every step of the way.

I've had 2 angiograms in the past and all I can tell you is to keep your socks on cause it's cold in there. The valium was pretty good though.

Be good and you guys hang in there. Your support team is sending positive energy and lots of prayers your way!

Love, hugs and kisses to you both!

Hi Mike,
Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you! Be nice to the nurses. We have ways of getting back at you...enemas, rectal temps, etc. Just kidding you won't need any of those. Be sure and ask for a warm blanket tomorrow. It's always cold in the surgery rooms. It will be a breeze. Trust me you won't remember a thing.
Love ya!

Hi Mike
Thanks for the note to me. It was Nancy who asked about the dentist. My surgery was at the CC and I had my dental visit prior to surgery and had no problems. Apparently as I read journals from others, the dental clearance is not standard protocol at most hospitals and that surprises me. You will also be given strict orders about pre op body and mouth cleansing the night before and morning of your surgery. That's why they have an almost non existent infection rate, something to be happy about!

We appear to have a similar diagnosis and similar surgery dates.

Best of luck. I will be following your progress.

Mike and Malinda,
Wishing you the best during this difficult time. Fortunately, they are getting you in quickly. Sometimes, the waiting is the hardest. From everything I've heard, you are going to the best place for heart care. Just remember that recovery takes longer than when we were younger!! You will be on my prayer list.

Hi Mike
I remember when I got my packet from the CC, it was so compete, they don't miss a thing. Had my surgery in March with Dr. Gillinov. Who is your surgeon? They're all top notch as you know. I got a bovine mitral valve and a reoair to my tricuspid. Don't forget to download the relaxation/guided imagery tape they tell you about. I found it very helpful. Of course, I had to wait 2 1/2 months from the time they gave me my date and the actual surgery. But I did listen every day and was actually listening when they wheeled me into the OR. Made a big difference post op, also. Good luck, it's not really that bad, just do whatever the staff tells you to do, they are the experts. You'll have a wonderful Christmas with your repaired heart. Best wishes from FL.

Hi Mike!
Welcome to the website! I have just started on it myself and I don't know what I would do without it!! The people here are so warm and supportuve and Adam and his book are invaluable. Sounds like CC is very thorough...I'm curious about why you would need to go to the dentist. I know dentists can tell a lot about your heart from your teeth (my brother is a dentist) and whether or not their condition is contributing to cardiac issues; is that why?? I to was very close to going to CC for a consult and possibly my AVR procedure, but decided to just get to it and not have to travel at this time of year. I scheduled my procedure for 2 weeks after my consult, just be sure I didn't take any more chances with my very stenotic aortic valve. You are lucky in that you are now going to be part of a really cool club here on HVJ: There are several wonderful people here that have had (or will have) their procedure performed at CC: Ricki, Fran, Mark, Anne, and Laurie. You are in good company. I'm sure you will be hearing from some of them.
Good luck with all your pre-op actvities and with the procedure. I will be thinking of and praying for you...You will have your procedure the day after me, so we have a lot in common.
Be well and try to take good care of yourself before the big day. I have been baking which is something I really enjoy. It takes my mind off of everything and relaxes me. So I guess if there's nothing in the house when I am away...."Let them eat cake!!!!"
Warm regards and good wishes,
Nancy H.
