Mary (Mia!),
Welcome! Sorry my last post got lost. Probably out in cyberspace somewhere. My surgery is two days after yours - replacing the bicuspid aortic valve I was born with. I'm going to be at the Cleveland Clinic. I don't remember if you have said where your surgery will be or not.

The day you have your surgery is the day I have my heart cath, so I should have lots of time to pray for you. I had never had a surgery or any kind of general anesthesia until 2011, late August. But in the next 6 months I had four big surgeries, two for breast cancer.

This still feels big. We are going to CC because I had a traumatic brain injury while helping out at a friend's farm 25 years ago and I still have flare ups. My cardiologist suggested a few valve centers he thought would be up to handling both of my medical problems, so my husband has cleared off his work schedule so he can be with me, and I am grateful.

Hope you are happily snoozing away by the time I send this.

Hugs and prayers,
Mary Myers  Good morning my friend Ginger,

Hi Mary,

Welcome to the family! My name is Li Huang and I had my mitral valve repaired on 04/15/14 at Duke University Hospital. We are about the same age and have similar problems. You can read my journal to see if it might help you going through this process. Now I am almost 2.5 months post op and I am playing competitive tennis again and working full time. My life is back to normal again. You can do it too! I wish you the best luck and let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
