Hi Gil, Great news all went well and the tubes are out. All those fine Sunday bike rides and x-country skiing junkets will surely pay dividends during your recovery. Get well quickly and be kind to the nurses.

Hi Gil-
Hang in there! I have both collegial and personal reasons to be interested, as I have "leaky"valves as well (although apparently not yet so badly that I need to take drastic action). We look forward to your return. Best,

Hi Gil,

I had a mitral valve repair in December and I remember the removal of that drain tube well. It was not a pleasant experience however; a rather small price to pay for the miracle surgery. I wish you a steady and full recovery.

Hi Janet,

Thank you for the update. Please give our best to Gil. And you hang in there too. I know it can be just as hard for the person that is right in the middle of it, sitting on uncomfortable chairs and hours of waiting! Such an important job though. Thanks!

Good News, Gil and Jan! We'll be thinking of you as you progress back to full health. Remember, Gil, when you broke your arm and had to walk back and forth with a pail full of water (?) on the porch at Glenwood in order to recover your strength. It's the burdens we bear that make us strong ... if they don't break us!

Love,

Thanks for the good news that Gil's surgery went well.

Gil:

Sandy and I hope you are feeling comfortable soon, and eager for a field trip. Central Park is quite close, so we can sneak past the staff (sssh!) and look for Cameron's line. ;-)

Dear Gilbert,

I remember when I was told you had a murmur in your heart. Well, it was much more than I thought. I'm glad to hear you are going to take care of it by surgery, though I feel sorry that you have to go through with something so serious. We found out yesterday when we were at Milla and Phil's house for Easter dinner. Sounds like a long recovery for you by what little I have read in the information in your blog. It's not like having your tonsils out that's for sure! Both Don and I will have you in our thoughts and prayers during the wait until May 14th, your surgery, and the recovery time.

Lots of Love,
Kathy

Dad,

Thanks for making this journal so we can all follow along with the pre-op, surgery and then post op. We all send are love and best wishes and since it is that time of year we also wish you happy Easter. Today while I was at the Canyon Club I was talking with a gentleman who was quoting Emerson and it made me think of you and how much you enjoy long walks. Anyway good luck and will look forward to following your journal entries.
