Gary, I'm painfully aware of what you are going through, just having had a similiar experience during hip joint replacement surgery in July. Hydration is paramount to offset the effects of the narcotic medications and the laxitives. We hope you recover quickly.

Congratulations on being a grandfather for the fourth time! Eric was able to send me a picture since I had an i-phone. Couldn't see his face up close, but next to Piper he looks pretty big. You'll probably see him in person before I get the chance! Sorry today you didn't feel as good but each day after surgery you actually progress. Hey Gary,

It was good to hear you (less than 24 hrs. after surgery). You sounded amazingly coherent considering you were well medicated. Congratulations! I understand the doctor has given you a thumbs up for skiing after Thanksgiving! Keep up the good healing! Remember, the important thing is to keep breathing and hugging your pillow!

Hey Dad- I've been checking in with Aunt Gayle...I'm so thankful that she and Uncle Eddy are there with you. She said you were doing well. Mom also said you sounded good. Maybe this is all due to some adequate pain management. Those nurses may be tough on you, but they know what they're doing, so I'm glad to hear that you are being a good patient and already looking forward to doing some skiing!
