After some disagreement with the handling of my care at KU Med center I transferred my care to the cardiologist at St.Lukes in Kansas City Missouri. In 1996 same symptoms, SOS. Operation # 5 was done at Lukes through my right side without opening my sternum again. The mitral valve was leaking again. This time instead of replacing it. it was repaired, or more stitches added. Was still put on the heart lung machine and heart stopped for the op. Deja vu 2001 the new millennium SOS, leaky heart valve, mitral. Same surgeon, same hospital, same opening through the right side repair or add more stitches to mitral valve This time completely removing the rib that was in the way. This was op # 6! Could it get any worse? Well as a mater of fact it can and will. Ok you know the jest by now, it`s 2003 now, and guess what, that`s right leaky valve, and the doctors don`t want to go through the sternum and fix the problem properly. Same doctor, same hospital, new op opening my left side and back, ( scar looks just like lung surgery.) This time doctor Borkon, same doc that did the last two repair jobs decides to put a new valve in from this position, witch he had apparently never done before. I figured this out when I came to, still in the operating room with the good doctor telling me that he couldn`t get the new valve installed properly. That`s right I was told op # 7 was a failure while still in the operating room. Please keep in mind there are all kinds of side stories that goes with this story. Family, friends, lovers, LIFE, or what I can keep going of it.I have kept a full time job all this time also, master tool and die maker. By this time I think I`m done. What`s left? Come to find out, thanks to my girlfriend, Sandy, the Mayo clinic is what`s left.( to be continued.) Gary
