Wow, I just found out my aorta is at 4.0. The nurse over the phone saI'd don't lift over 25 pounds aND watch your blood pressure. We will schedule a CT scan to determine if the annurism is less or mor. Part me new something was wrong because my blood pressure spiked really high a month ago. They always say you know your own body. I insisted on going to a cardiologist and my PCP said it was my job d/t to the high stress level. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. My question is what do people do when they find out, because right now I feel an uncertainty.

Marie Myers I had that same unpleasant surprise last fall. Had a CT scan, then started meeting cardiac surgeons, cardiologists ect. Took me about 7 months to accept this was all happening. Fast forward to now-- I am 4 weeks post aneurysm resection and AVR. Just take it step by step. My aneurysm was larger at 4.5x 4.8, so I had surgery sooner than later. It is not an easy journey , but it is fixable. Keep us posted!

Henry Brouwer Hi Daniel, my echo measured my aorta at 3.8 and the surgeon said he would determine if he would need to replace ascending aorta if it was larger when he was actually in. It was actually smaller so he didn't replace. My surgeon told me that typically these do not grow quickly after valve is working properly, so I am hoping he is right. He said he didn't want to do preventative maintenance by replacing aorta when it wasn't required. believe my surgeon said that if it had measured around 4.5, he would have replaced with Dacron. He also told me that when aorta measure around 5.5, it's time to get it replaced. Hopefully that won't happen for may years. Positive thoughts.
