About Me (In My Own Words)
I am a 51 y/o active, healthy, individual! I've always been active in many sports, i.e.. wrestling, powerlifting, bodybuilding, and many other activities. Most of my achievements in life have been through physical accomplishments - so this is especially difficult. (Sad to say, but it is.)
In 2010 was diagnosed with moderate bicuspid aortic stenosis. I wasn't symptomatic at that time, so, I carried on! In retrospect, I did notice since that time a progressive inability to perform cardiovascular type exercise. Now? Zero ability to perform simple cardio. It is hard to walk to the mailbox without being "episodic." :-(
Here, in 2014, the wheezing, the dizzy spells, pain in my chest area occur daily and at times is quite severe. Twice, I've passed out, (in public places no less! *embarrassing*). As well, the continual "flip flopping and gurgling" in my heart-chest area.
I had an echo-cardiogram done a day ago and they immediately set me up with appt. I was informed the stenosis was "very severe." I will see the cardiologist to chose a surgeon on 07/10/14.
I look very much forward to learning from everyone here, and perhaps sharing w/ others in their journeys. Perhaps in this we can find comfort in/with one another. :-)
So the journey continues ... .
Many Blessings!!
