About Me (In My Own Words)
I had minimally invasive Mitral valve repair at 29 years old. I was a division 1 collegiate swimmer and I exercise extremely hard. I went to the military entrance doctors for a physical to take the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test. The doctors found a murmur that was a 5 on a 0-6 scale. Long story short, I had severe mitral regurgitation and needed surgery. I showed no symptoms what so ever. I had no shortness of breath, no dizziness when working out, I had normal heart rhythm, and no heart enlargement. Within a month of finding out of my murmur, I was on the operating table.
My surgery was done at East Carolina Heart Institute in Greenville, NC by Dr. Evelio Rodriguez.
The surgery didn't quite hold up very well and my valve is still leaking on the upper limits of moderate so I see re-surgery in the somewhat near future.
I researched a ton before my surgery and I was very comfortable with everything. I had absolutely no worries about. I got a couple butterflies in my stomach about 30 minutes before I went into the hospital but that is it. And I feel being stress free before the surgery is very important so....
If anyone has questions or for me, or if you just need worries eased, please feel free to message me and we can talk via phone or email.
