About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot I have had two surgeries done already, one at 18 months, one at 3 1/2 years and now again in the next month at age 33. They will do a pulmonary valve replacement and well as put a patch in my pulomary artery. This should last 15-20 years when then they can do another replacement, but through percutaneous procedure, not open heart :))
My surgeon is Dr. John Lee, whom I feel comfortable with, apparently he's the best in the city. It's been quite a journey as I didn't think I would get the surgery for quite a few years, if at all, but now he said my heart has been enlarged and even if I wasn't symptomatic, they would need to do the surgery..and the maximum amount of time I could wait is 6 months...so he has put me on a waiting list and will only find out the week before what my surgery date will be.
My husband and I are just making all the arrangements that need to be done and have slowly been informing everyone...I find that the difficult part! How do you tell someone you are going for open heart?
I am nervous for this surgery....but prayer keeps me going. There's a lot to face, but my favorite verse is Phlippians 4;13 - I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. That's my biggest prayer...that He woudl give me strength to face this with a heart of courage. I've already seen Him do awesome things in my life and looking forward to what He will do next!
