About Me (In My Own Words)
Mild Rheumatic fever as an 11 year-old created a heart murmur that became more pronounced as I aged.
This year, my primary care physician referred me to a cardiologist who, looking at the echo cardiogram results, declared that I needed a heart valve replacement this year.
The blood velocity through the atrial valve was 5.1 meters/second and considered dangerous.
My father had an aortic valve replacement 5 years earlier by a surgeon I considered to be good and at a hospital that appeared to be very good too.
The upshot is I selected Dr. Vincent Guadiani to perform my surgery at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California.
The surgery, performed on November 18th was a great success and I am now recuperating at home.
