About Me (In My Own Words)
I am now 58 years of age and it was mid June 2010 when I was diagnosed through 2D-echocardiogram with severe aortic stenosis with post stenotic dilatation due to bicuspid aortic valve. I opted for second opinion and was recommended for other invasive diagnostic procedures like trans-esophageal echo and CT andiogram, but the results are just consistent with the first. I was told I need to undergo aortic valve replacement. I have mixed feelings, it created a lot of trouble, I was confused, so many questions in my mind, do I really need it, what are my chances of survival? I need answers so I resorted to research, research, and research about the disease that scared me more! Until I finally found some groups including Adam Pick's HVJ wherein I was able to interact with heart valve patients about their successful stories. They serve as my inspiration and contributed much to my courage to submit to the surgery that will be done between Sept. 6-15. Now, I am ready for the surgery with almost no worries, with positive outome of the surgery. I purchased Adam Pick\\\'s book \\\"The Patien\\\'ts Guide to Heart Valve Surgery\\\". that really helped me a lot. My questions are answered and I need not ask many questions to my doctor because all are very clearly shared. Thank you very much Adam!
