About Me (In My Own Words)
I'm an 82 year old man, Pretty fit, have moderate asthma which does not stop me from take my Labroador for a couple of miles walk every day (takes abut 50minutes. So didn't think I had a problem
My GP picked up an "aggressive" aortic murmur during a blood pressure test. Sent me for an Echo.
Result was surprising. Aortic stenosis (0.8 cm2) But only mild aortic regurgitation and otherwise no serious problems with the heart.
Been referred fort a consultation with a cardiologist. I'm wondering whether I should even consider an elective AVR. I have a good quality of life and worry about jeopordising this by a procedure which carries some post op risks and more importantly the possibility of long term cognitive impairment.
Shoiuld I wait till I present more symptoms
