About Me (In My Own Words)
I found out ten years ago that I had a heart murmur that turned out to be mitral valve prolapse. Only over the last 2 years has the regurgitation progressed from mild to severe.
Back in February 2013, when I went for my annual echo, my cardiologist told me she thought I should have valve repair surgery sooner rather than later. Although I am relatively symptom free, I see no benefit to waiting. I don't want this hanging over my head for years.
I am crystal clear that this is the right choice for me.
My surgery was on May 2, 2013 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. My surgeon was Dr. Michael Acker, Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery.
