About Me (In My Own Words)
I have recently been diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation with prolapse. Have had symptons since the end of January. The end results of all testing is that both posterior and anterior flaps are bad. My surgeon thinks 80% that he can repair but wont know 100% until surgery. I have confidence in my surgeon he came highly recommended by my cardiologist. He is at out University Hospital here in Iowa. I have met with him twice and I was actually set for surgery bu they were very thourough at the hospital on testing and found that i needed some teeth work done first. Now my surgery is schuduled for Wed the 4th of May. I read Adam Picks book and that has helped answer some of my questions along with the doctor and nurses. I would like some real advice from recent patients though and any advice they can give to me. I was a healthy, active 54 year old woman with no prior heart problems
2nd heart surgery coming up July 18th, first repair on May 6th did not hold up so now doing a replacement cause my valve is too diseased!
Thanks Kathy
