I am 21 days post mitral valve repair via port access. I had no idea anything was wrong until i noticed my heart was constantly thumping in my chest so i went to see my GP. She rushed me to the hospital where a diagnosis was made following scans and xrays. James Cook university hospital in middlesbrough uk is second to none in my opinion. All of the staff were fantastic. I was in hospital for a total 11 days (4 days post surgery). My biggest problem once i got home was the severe bruising to my arms where various tubes and needles had been. This is fading now and despite breathlessness and tiredness, i am more my old self and looking forward to rehab in a couple of weeks.
