I have known since childhood that I had a heart murmer and remember hearing the 'This may need to be fixed later in life but its unlikely" speech from my Doctor. Im 39 years old and in the last year I started having symptoms such as pretty severe palpitations and feeling quite breathless upon exertion. I mentioned this at my yearly physical and it was noted that I hadnt had an Echocardiogram for 10 years. The Echo held a few surprises, my Mitral and Tricuspid regurgitation was now severe and a hole between my atriums was seen for the 1st time. Added to my surprise, I had moderate Pulomonary Hypertension and an enlarged Left Ventricle. The fix was surgery and Im now waiting for a surgical date....
