I am 58 and in excellent health except for my mitral valve. I've had a heart murmur all my life, which developed into mitral valve prolapse, which has developed significant regurgitation over time. While I am considered asymptomatic, the docs say I should have this valve fixed before it worsens. Doing it now should prevent any future damage, so I am going ahead with a mitral valve repair.
