I'm 28 years old and was diagnosed with a congenital bicuspid aortic valve last december (2010). My doctor heard a loud murmur when I went to see her for a cold/sinus infection just after Thanksgiving. I had an echo and they found a severe leak and that I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. I had no symptoms at all, other than feeling a little more tired than usual. After the echo my cardiologist asked for a TEE and a stress test and here we are. I read a lot about the Cleveland Clinic and decided that I wanted my cardiologist to referral me to a surgeon there for a second opinion. Now I'm having surgery with Dr.T Mihaljevic ;) I'd never imagine having heart problems at 28! Especially since I'm a vegetarian, don't smoke, don't drink and have a really healthy life style. So you can imagine how chocked I was when I got the news... But c'est la vie. I'm glad I found this website and I'd love to receive any advice/tips! Thank you, Ilana.
