About Me (In My Own Words)
Harold was born with Tetralogy of Fallot. He had 3 open-heart surgeries to repair the defects. Through the years, due to the scar tissue, he began to have Ventricular Tachycardia and in 1989, he had cardiac arrest. Fortunately, we were doing Fellowships in Blood Banking at Barnes in St Louis, Missouri, the very best doctors took care of him. In addition, because he had no pulmonary valve he developed right-sided heart failure.
There were no Adult Congenital Heart Specialists in Western New York, so we went to the Cleveland Clinic. We were encouraged by the fact that the Doctor who took care of Harold at Barnes, Dr Bruce Lindsay, was now the head of Electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic.
