Im 43 yr old male with aortic stenosis. I only found out about my condition 2 yrs ago and purely by accident. On a day like any other i was going about my business and had an episode where one half of the vision in one eye went black for about 15-30 seconds. Lucky for me is worked with a great retinal surgeon at the time and he did a work up the next day. My retina was fine so he sent me for an echo and carotid ultrasound to make sure I wasn't throwing plaque. Carotid study was clear but the report came back that I had a bicuspid valve. I would not know today had he not sent me for those studies. Now 2 yrs later I'm scheduled for surgery.
