About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a 'heart murmur' at age 12. Later, in my 40's I was seen by a Cardiologist, who showed me my bicuspid aortic valve on an echocardiogram. She said it might be a problem in my 80's. About five years ago I returned to a cardiologist, and was followed first once a year, then every six months, and then every three months. I began to have symptoms about a month ago, and following the advice of my cardiologist, picked my surgeon. I'm getting ready for surgery, and preparing for my post-surgical recoup. Nervous, but know that my heart will literally be in good hands!
Looking forward to recouping and feeling more energetic.
This will be my first surgery EVER.
