About Me (In My Own Words)
In May 2009 I started having panic waking up episodes like my heart was having trouble beating while sleeping on my left side. I had bought a stethoscope back in 2000 because I was curious about my heart and listened to it sometimes back then. I checked it again after these episodes started and could hear a murmur that I compared to online and found mine had the same whooshing sound as someone with a leaking valve. On June 5, 2009 I had about a 20 minute episode of tachycardia with my blood pressure all over the place. I saw my doctor on July 11, 2009 and he confirmed the murmur and sent me to a Cardiologist. He also confirmed the murmur and ordered an echocardiogram. Results from that showed severe leakage of my mitral valve but I showed no symptoms. He said I needed surgery soon but I am currently unemployed and have no insurance. I have had 3 echos total with the second one done in January 2010 and the third one done at the end of July 2010. All echos are the same. The leakage is severe but I still show no symptoms. I was told I am a candidate for mitral valve repair using the Da Vinci machine but without insurance, I'm sure I can't afford anything right now. I am currently checking around to see if I qualify for anything that can pay for this.
