Hi Stephen: My name is Jayne and I also had Hodgkin\'s Disease back in 1977. In 1995 I had my aorta valve replaced with a homograph which is a human donor valve. Toby Cosgrove was my surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic. I have contracted breast cancer, skin cancer, thyroid cancer, parotid gland tumor, all as a result of the radiation I received in 1977. I am now about to embark on my second valve surgery. June 7th of 2010 I will have all my valves replaced as an after effect of the radiation. Bruce Lylte is my surgeon and I am confident things will go well. It is just difficult to face yet another open heart surgery. I have tons of practical knowledge when it comes to this. If I can help you anyone else please contact me at holycrossjayne@yahoo.com. Thanks for listening.

Hi Stephen,
It's good to meet you. Seems we're about the same age with at least similar problems. I just returned home from the hospital on Monday, having had surgery last Wednesday - one week ago today.
If you can move your surgery up a little, it's better than waiting those extra days. After the decisions are made, it's best to get on with it and start getting better!
I wish you well. Let us all know how you come along.

Hi Stephen,
Nice to meet you. And, thanks for sharing your story with all of us.
Sounds like the Mayo is a good place for you to be given your medical history. The docs over there are some of the best in the world.
Like you, I had almost no symptoms from aortic stenosis. But, my heart was already dilated when it became severe. I'm glad they caught it when they did.
Anyways, keep us updated! My thoughts and prayers are with you and the people around you!
Keep on tickin!
