Hi Sherry!! I am so sorry it has taken me this long to send you a note...seems like yesterday I saw you at the Dr.'s office!! I was so glad to see you!! You looked beautiful but then you always do!! It made me feel so good to talk with you and kinda catch up. I just thanks the Lord that you are doing well and that you drove yourself to the Dr.!! He is so good!! Praying for you each day!
This is wonderful news! You are driving and recovering nicely it sounds like. It does take time and you are now realizing that you are improving every day that passes!
I do remember when my dad had his heart bypass surgery, his appetite was not good for a long long while. I do remember his appetite getting better though.
It was nice to come into work today and find a message from you. Take care and I will call you soon!
I praise God for the incredible progress you have made after your surgery. Your faith in God is a wonderful testimony. Thank you for sending out an update. You will be in my prayers. Love, Rachel Nagele (a friend of the Allison family)
Psalm 136:26 Oh, give thanks to the God heaven! For His mercy endures forever.
So happy that you posted some news. Glad you are driving again. Will continue to pray about the health issues with the vertigo and infection. Trusting God for continual healing in all areas. Love, Sarge
WHOA!! G-Ma driving?!?! That's awesome!!! Congratulations on that big accomplishment! :) Super glad to hear an update and that everything is going well in rehab! I'm blessed to have a grandmother who fears the Lord as you do. Such an encouragement, testimony to the Lord's glory, love, and compassion on us. Thanks again for coming down for my play! :) BTW...your welcome to come back anytime! I started working at CFA this past week, thought you'd like to know! haha Bye for now,
--God is good ALL the time, and ALL the time God is good--
It was good to see you last Monday at Karen's. I enjoyed playing cards. You really looked good and I'm glad rehab is going well and you're driving now.
I thank God for His work on you and continued healing. Take Care until I see you again. Mary
I am sooo proud of you! What an AWESOME grandma! I'm also glad that you are driving now...I know your happy about that. I miss you, and want you to know that "I love you a bushel and a peck...a bushel and a peck...and a hug around the neck....that's how much I loooooove you :)" I'll never forget you saying that to me when I was little...but seriously I love you bunches :) Keep hanging in there!
~Julia Allison (aka...jula mula)
Glad to see a new posting. Don't be so hard on yourself, what is happening is out of your control. So thrilled to hear you are walking all those stairs by yourself. I know in time with the cardiac rehab you will be taking back control of driving and so on. The Lord has been good to you, and HE will bring you back to being whole again, it is just going to take somemore time. You are missed this week by all your friends. Ginny did leave last night, and will return the 26th of February. We are all keeping you in our prayers. Enjoy your grandkids, Carol and Eugene. Love and prayers, Marilyn
I just read your journal and I must say you are quite a trooper. In Sept I was diagnosed with moderate aortic stenosis and anuersym. I must say that I came unglued as this happened on mym 65th birthday. On Sept 11th my husband and I joined our church and felt so much better then. I could feel the power, and in Nov I was baptized. So now I do get scared but it does leave except the butterflies that are starting up. The tests are starting in Feb and then I will know. Keep up the good work, you are quite a lady. Love Linda
Thanks for you updates. I pray a quick prayer of thanks to God that you've come this far. Karen and I played cards yesterday evening and she told me of your recent appt. and upcoming rehab. I'm glad you're visiting your daughter and her family for awhile. Enjoy yourself and all those grandchildren. YEAH for 17 step climbing!!! Keep up the challenges!
Continued prayers sent your way.
It has been such a great honor to have you here in our home...you bring so much joy wherever you go :) I loved getting to walk around with you outside yesterday! We had a great talk!! You keep surprising me everywhere I turn...you felt up to go out shopping, out to eat, up the 16 stairs by yourself! Walking around a ton, eating a lot last night for dinner! You are AMAZING! And it's only been a little over a day!!!!!! We have a whole more week! (you should stay for 2 weeks, then you could be here for my birthday)! Anyways, I can't wait to see what you do next...you are an awesome grandma! I love you good!
~Jula Mula ;)
Glad that you are coming along great, everything takes time, and everyone is different, as time goes on you will get better at everything. Cardio Rehab will be good for you, you will meet some new friends and have fun at least during the warm up exercises. LOL I will continue to lift you up in Prayer, GOD is good all the time. take care Jim
You know what I think about the driving issue. But, you will know when you are ready within yourself. Be careful of the burners and coffee pots. You are doing great, don't shortchange yourself. In due time, not our time, you will be ready to tackle all things again. As always, love, Mlarilyn
Karen tells me you are improving in many days. I would take the driving slowly and wait and see h o w your family thinks you continue to improve in a week or 2. They can see how you might react. If you 2nd guess yourself, I wouldn't drive.
It's really good news to know that you are wanting to drive! It's a big step in the right direction. But, like Mommy and Aunt Phyllis said maybe you should wait a few more weeks. We certainly don't want you to forget something and be in an accident. As i'm a new driver I seem to make mistakes every so often (ask mommy) like not stoping at a stop sign that I didn't see, or forgeting to yield to on coming cars ect. Now of course this isn't all the time...but it only takes one mistake to risk everything. So I think that maybe you should wait a few more weeks, improve your processing, and as you said keep peace in the family :) (which is always good). But don't get me wrong...wanting to drive is a HUGE step! I'm so proud of you. Keep up the good work. I love you good G-ma :)
Hello Ms. Sherry,
I am responding to your question: Should I or Shouldn't I??? I certainly do not have all the right answers, but it is obvious as you said your children are taking good care of you and they want what's best for you during this recovery. Sounds as though you are progressing well, and I am so glad to hear that about you. Not surprised though!!! You are determined and a very positive individual. However, you don't need to rush into driving when you have someone that can do that for you. Be patient. I can tell you to be patient but I need to be telling myself that too. ha!
Take care and take it slow... Love, Sarah
Hurray, Aunt Bloss! Thank the Lord you were able to go to Phyllis' and Carol's over Christmas! Was that Elmer you mentioned who had also had the heart surgery? You needed that encouragement. See, I told you that you were making good progress. You are impatient - like me - to return to your good health. God has a plan, though. Like you said, He is good all the time. Just "go with it". Love you!!!
Happy New year to you my friend. And may we never cease from telling others about our Lord, Jesus Christ. I too hope to share more with others this year about our very real hope, Jesus. This hernia attack has caused me to rejoice and be greatful in the Lord. Let's lift our cup of praise to God as we start this new year in gladness. Love, Marilyn
Merry Christmas and Joy-Full New Year, Sherry, from Pennsylvania!
We are looking fwd to the next 10 weeks also...and the next 10 years of fellowship in Christ with our sweet friend, Sherry :) Ginny and I took our son, Jeb, and his family to Cracker Barrel for breakfast this morning...the big warm fire...the delicious blueberry pancakes...the hot coffee...cold orange juice...mmmmmmmm...life's little pleasures are to be savored - reminded me of our dinner with you and Carol, Tom & Marilyn, the night before your surgery. That was a great evening, wasn't it? Just imagine, if you can, the Wedding Supper of The Lamb...I can only barely imagine :) Until THAT DAY, each gathering around the table with friends and family and share laughter, smiles & joy and memories are sweet glimpses beyond the vale. Have a wonderful day today with Jesus our Lord.
You are doing good, i am starting my 6 week post op and yes I took stairs like you like a baby, it will take time, then you will take steps like normal but be winded at the top. As time goes on it will get better & better, it took me to my start of my 6 week that I started to notice a slight different in how I feel and how my breathing has gotten so much better. I would guess i am 60-70% there. Everyone is different and you will have some good days and some no so good days, that is normal. Keep up the good work GOD is in control and he will take care of us. GOD BLESS jim
Hi Mom! Boy did it ever rain here too today. And the wind was really whipping around. I am glad the Tylenol helped with your pain. A good cup of hot chocolate would do wonders as well!!!
I love you,
I am so pleased to hear such a great report on your recovery! Your Christmas time with family certainly had a special ring to it this year. May you continue to gain strength and stamina in the coming days. Know that you remain in our prayers.
Sandy Miller's passing was a shock to all, may we find peace knowing she has the gift of heaven and eternal life.
We love you! Eastland Gray
Sherry, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Only God knows why these things happen, it is not for us to know or wonder, it will be revealed in HIS timing. Keep her in your heart. I am glad you have been walking and getting out of the house.
I hope to see you soon myself. All joy abounds in our Lord. Blessings to you, Marilyn
Keep on keeping on like you ALWAYS do :) You are such an inspiration to all of us! I'm so glad you decided to come down here to see us...we were all so thrilled! Don't ever forget that God is the author of our lifes, and that he does everything for a purpose. I love you good :)
Hi Mom! Wow, you surprised me with a post again today. Thank you. Little updates about your day don't take long and we so enjoy hearing about your progress. Some days there will be progress and some days will have setbacks, but hopefully the good days will continue to outnumber the tough ones. Did you walk any stairs today? I am sorry for the Miller family and their loss. I love you, Carol
Sounds like you are doing great, GOD is good all the time, I will continue to keep you lifted in prayer everyday, He is the GREAT Physician & GREAT Healer, I know he has many more plans for you. Everyone here in America is so BLESSED, it is like everyday we wake up we hit the lottery. We have so much to be THANKFUL for, and so many things we take for granted everyday. I just ask that we all slow down and THANK GOD for the many BLESSINGS he has giving us everyday. Continue the good work, you are on the road to a sucessful recovery.
Yes, yes. Keep on keeping on, Bloss. It was a joy this morning to see your entry. Each day is a new beginning for each of us. God has a plan for each of us and He is faithful to us. Have a good day and know that you are loved. Sarge.
Merry Christmas, Sherry, I'm glad you could spend time with your daughter and familiy in Charlotte! I'm blessed with the reminders of our Lord Jesus Christ and his birth (and all he's graced us with. I'm glad I believe and we celebrate as a family for Christmas.
Merry Christmas, my friend. I am so thrilled that you wrote your own blog. And, I thank God for your progress thus far, God is so amazing. We do tend to take life for granted and get caught up in the world and how the world wants to play out Christ's birth, it is meaningless to them. But, I would say fine take today and make it your holiday, but give me and let me speak about Jesus the other 364 days of the year. Christ should be in our heart all year long, we don't need presents to keep him in our heart. The world has gotten caught up in the gifts, the same old what's in it for me. I am thankful that you and your family know the real meaning, Jesus is the greatest gift of all. Love ya good, Marilyn
"God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good." I couldn't agree more! What a privilege it was to be able to see you the other day!! Glad you made the journey down here to celebrate Christ's birth with all us Charlotte folk. I am super excited to see how far God has brought you through recover so far, and can't wait to see where He will take you in the future.
Keep up the positive outlook! It's amazing how just a simple thing as that can change and improve the recover and way we go about our daily lives.
A note of clarification for our readers: the note that Mom wrote on Friday after visiting with us here in Charlotte was hand written by her but typed in by me later after she left. I thought that was a huge step for her--to write her own journal message. But TODAY, she actually typed her journal entry all by herself from her own computer at her home in Fayetteville--wow--now THAT is REALLY huge!!! Yay Mom!! We want to hear from you more! Does anyone else agree???
Good job on those back stairs at Phyllis & Bobby's house. Don't they have 5 steps? I like your positive attitude about taking one step at a time toward healing. You can do it!
Praise the Lord that you are progressing well and healing. I have been checking your blog constantly and was so happy today to see your post. I love you and your family so much and wish each of you a blessed Christmas and healthy 2012. Love and prayers, Sarge
Way to go, Mom!! Let me be the first to say to you, "Welcome to your Heart Valve Journal!" It is so good to see YOU be the one to write on your journal. I hope you will post other updates from time to time because I know that friends and loved ones would much rather hear from the patient than the patient's daughter about how you are doing! We loved having all of you here today. We have much to celebrate and be thankful for.
Just a tidbit of info for those who may want to know. Mom was able to walk up our front porch steps (4 steps) a total of four times! She gets around pretty well with her walking, but really needs to work more on climbing steps in order to strengthen her leg muscles. So for those of you who may be visiting with Mom...have her walk(with assistance) up and down a few steps before you leave--thanks.
Also, we took a family picture while they were here. I will let you know when I get it posted.
I am so glad you are with your grands for Christmas. I know that will be the best medicine you have gotten so far. Just relax enjoy, walk those stairs and come back refreshed. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years. Love, Tom & Marilyn
Dearest Sherry - The GOOD NEWS just keeps on rolling in! Ginny and I are so proud of your progress...and can't wait to see you again - can we come visit after church on Sunday? We'll call you tomorrow to ck. Praises to God the King for His faithfulness in your recovery :) Love Jim n GInny
I am so happy to hear the good report. Please know that I am praying for you daily and wish I was closer to you so I could be there for you. May each day bring you closer to a complete healing. Bloss, God is going to see you through till you are strong and able to do the things you once did. Love and prayers are sent your way this day. Sarge.
Oh Carol, I am so sorry I haven't checked on you all in several days. I did call this morning and left a msg. I will bring supper tomorrow night. Also, I would love to take her out of the house for a ride. I will call and set that up with her!
It was great having dinner with you and Carol, and Karen at Golden Corral, last Wednesday. You were yourself with your loaner hearing aids.
And now you are off that nasty cummedin (spelled wrong I am sure). That is great to be off of it. And your heart doctor said you are doing fantastic. He went as far as to say you are doing better than they expected taking in the age factor. WE don't realize how major that surgery was, and that it takes time for the body to get back to where it was, but you are getting there. See you later. Marilyn
Continued thoughts and prayers. I'm glad to read all the updates. Karen told me you went out to eat. Great news! Hang in there and be blessed by God's many blessings. Don't beat Karen in cards again, haha!!
Hi Ms Sherry, I am soooo glad to hear about your progress. It sounds like you are doing great! I have missed you! Im not sure if you feel up to it, but I have a break during my day on Thursday from 12-2, I would be happy to come by and cut/style your hair for you. I know that always makes me feel better! If you are up to it, just give me a call. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Dawn J
Great Job Sherry I am 4 weeks and one day home from my triple bypass..was feeling real sorry for myself till I saw a good freind of mine with cancer and a feeding tube hanging out of his stomach...gave me a whole new outlook on my little problem...Keep up your good work and my prayers are with you
