Great to hear from you! My friend has connected me with the pediatric cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. I will take my son to an international hospital in Shanghai for a thorough echocardiogram this Friday (finger crossed!), so that I can provide more information/clinical data to the specialist in US. US hospitals definitely offer much better service as compared to China, partly because we have a large population here and partly because great hospitals are only available in certain cities such as Shanghai and Beijing. I also bought several books from Amazon.com, written by American parents of children with CHD. I’m amazed again by the amount and availability of information from the US. You’re lucky being an American :-). The more I learn, the more confident I am in your swift recovery.
Yes, we are connected by the “heart” despite the physical distance. It’s great to “feel great” as you are at a golden age of your life. And having gone through/the prospect of going into a surgery makes people think seriously about what is the most important thing in life. Washington DC is a nice city by the way.
My son is having an echocardiogram end of next January. The specialist thinks it’s too early to decide on open heart surgery versus balloon dilation because his trans-valvular gradient is 64 mmHg and he’s too young. Although the doctor we are seeing is the best in Shanghai and he thinks it will be a minor procedure, I’m thinking of seeking a second opinion by consulting with a pediatric cardiologist in US. Maybe I will visit the States in the near future. I missed the old days when I studied in Boston.
I am so happy to hear you are doing well. I am from Shanghai, China. My 8 months old son has vulmonary valve stenosis and is doing regular check-ups with the specialist in Shanghai. Reading your story means a lot to me. I pray for your excellent recovery!
I'm so glad to hear you are doing well. With your great upbeat attitude (along with the excellent doctors and staff at Children's) I have every confidence you will continue to have a swift recovery. Do you plan to return to the Seattle area eventually?
I'm so happy to hear how well you are doing! I know you can't wait to get out on the trail and start climbing to higher peaks....You've gone through this with such a great attitude, one that I think we all can learn from.

What wonderful news that the valve is functioning the way it should! You are like the poster girl for the blessing of modern medicine combined with a strong character amd resillient attitude. As the saying goes, you will "go from strength to strength". A difficult journey still, but a happy outcome!
So glad to hear what a fast come back you are making. Lou said she was so glad to visit with you while I was in CA.
Keep up the progress. You'll be runniing around the Temple (Mormon) before long.
Love to you and your fam
So glad to hear all is progressing well although I had no doubts because of your great spirit! I'm off to Istanbul today so I'll check in on you when I return. By then you'll probably up and ready to get outside and see some birds!
O Shari Shari,

Hi Shari, I was glad to hear that you had a good day today and are walking more. I hope you're home soon and enjoying sleeping in your own bed. I've been reading other peoples journals to get an idea what's ahead for you and I just know you're gonna rock PT and be running again before you know it!.
I'm doing PT for my two knee surgeries and get impatient at times but have to remind myself that I am moving forward.
Love, cousin Mary
Shari...Thanks for calling today. So glad to hear from you. Can't wait to see you come home so we can start getting ready to run that marathon we've been talking about.

We are happy to read about your progress. You commented on my son Lucian Zingarella's heart journal a few weeks ago when he had the same surgery. We are excited to see that you are progressing so well. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Shari, Your Mom and Dad did a great job of keeping us posted on your progress. Everything sounds like your progress well. I thing to work real hard on is your breathing tube.. That was the ONE thing that helped our son Michael recover quicker. You will also feel better when the body drain tubes come out Our thoughts and prayers have been with you all week. This is the beginning of a new chapter in your life. Keep the posts coming. Jim, Linda & Michael Rogers, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL
