Hey Laurie, Just wanted to check in with you and see how you are doing as we approach 6 months. I hope all is well and you are feeling good. I am feeling pretty normal again but did have a small issue with pericarditis...NOT FUN! However, it went away after a couple of days and hope it doesn't come back. Anyway hope you have a great summer!

Thanks for the update, especially the part about mentally bouncing back. I've felt so off-kilter the past few months leading up to surgery. I'm looking forward to having my old, quick-witted self back...you know, the one who doesn't have to write everything down? Keep up the great work!

Laurie, You have been an amazing patient and have kept your spirits during a most challenging time physically and mentally. I was a witness first hand and as a mother it was very difficult to experience along with you. I hope you found some comfort from me. I am so happy to see that journey end and another journey to begin. Lots of fun things ahead for you! As always...in your cheering section., Love, Mom

Hey Laurie It's more than great to hear from you. I can tell you that I believe the first 4 weeks are the hardest. The next month, week by week, gets better. I'm in the 9th week and working while participating in cardiac rehab. Take care of yourself, do what you can daily while not overdoing it. You'll do wonderful but it does take time. (More time than I was interested in taking!!) All the best!

Laurie, Just happen to get on HVJ to actually write a 4 week update and saw your post. I am doing well although my neck is still a little sore from my fall. Other than that things have gone smoothly for me. Sorry to hear about your ups & downs but glad to know your sternum/incision is healing nicely. Also glad to hear your doctor visit went well hopefully they will release you to drive soon. I do hope you start feeling better in the coming days both mentally and physically. This has been a long journey! It does take a toll on your emotions but I know you are glad everything went well and you can now focus on your life ahead. Thanks for the update and stay positive! Sounds like you're doing great! I had cabin fever too...I kept telling my husband we had to go places so I could walk more...since he works so much though that wasn't too often. I just had to deal with it until I could drive again. (4 weeks for me). I also watched a lot of movies from netflix. Keep healing, it's so great to be able to see the progress made after each week. :-)

Laurie, Sounds like you are doing great with only 2 weeks out from surgery. I'm sure it is hard having cabin fever. I had surgery in Oct. so I was still able to walk around in my neighborhood. I would call up a friend to come pick me up to go to lunch or run a few errands, or walk the mall. I was down to 2 Tylenol every 6 hrs 2 weeks post op. since the pain meds made me sick. Sleeping was an issue for quite awhile. It will improve. Isn't it great to be on the other side of surgery?!

Told ya, you would be kickin butt by Christmas, Take Care and Keep up the good work, however, DO NOT over do it, soooo easy to do when you are feeling good.
