Our deepest sympathy and prayers for Kelly and her family. Kelly is with our merciful Lord now and is free from pain, but it is still hard for those on this side of heaven. We are so sorry for your loss.
Jim and Donna Smith
There are no words to express how sad this makes me feel. My not quite 19 yr. old Son has his Aortic Valve replaced 2 yrs. ago with a Mechanical Valve, and he's doing well now. I can't imagine the pain that Kelly's Mom is going through right now, but my heart goes out to her & her Family. Godspeed Kelly ... & we'll see you on the other side someday.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Kelly's family, her Mom & brother Chris. I will keep you in my daily prayers, for GOD's comfort, Didn't know Kelly but she is part of our family here, she will be deeply missed. Take care everyone. jim
To Kellys family, I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Kelly but I sure did say a lot of prayers for her to get well. She is quite a lady. I know she will be greatly missed, but she is in such a wonderful place and I know she is very happy and free of any pain. God bless you all.
Kelly...I am so sad. I know you're in a better place now, but I selfishly wanted you to stay w/us imperfect beings here on earth for much, much longer. It is so unreal that you are gone...but I know the reunion with your dad was a sweet one, & that I'll see you again one day. Watch over us all until then.
My Prayers go out to all of Kelly's family for their loss. I only knew Kelly from being a friend and neighbor on our farmtown game, but we had many great days of farming for each other, she helped me a lot getting started. We had several good chats about our lives and family. She will be missed by all whoever had the chance to be a friend with her.The world lost a wonderful woman today, but Heaven gained a beautiful Angel.R.I.P.Kelly
Hey Kel! You're my first thought each morning. I haven't been on here in awhile, but I had heard about the massive outpouring of love and prayers. So great to see! I hope today is a great day for you. Sorry I can't be at USC with ya, but just know - I'm with ya all the way! I can't wait to see you stronger. And to sign off in your usual way...
Hi there. I was sent your link by another friend who is reaching out for prayers for you. I know your battle for life is HARD, and to some they might think it is impossible. But it is. My 9 yr old daughter had her AV replaced when she was 3yrs old. She will undergo a AV and MV replacement in the next coming weeks. The fear alone of a double valve replacement is so shocking, I have no words. BUT, please keep the faith. If at such a young age she can heal I hope and pray you are able to do the same. You can read more about Arianna and her battle for life at www.caringbridge.org/pa/arianna She also has severe regurg from AV, MV and PV because of her first OHS @ 4 days old to remove a tumor that was blocking 95% of her left ventricle. It has been a long hard battle, even with the surgery she wasnt expected to live a month. Miracles DO happen.
Hi Kelly, You are in my daily prayers for a full recovery. You sound like an amazingly strong and determined young woman! May you enjoy good health... thanks to the incredible Drs and staff who do perform miracles.
Kelly - Looking forward to seeing something on your site really soon telling us all that you have turned the corner and things are getting better for you. You and your family are in my prayers.
Dick Miller - Cincinnati
Just want you to know that I have been thinking about you & praying for you. I even lit a candle for you in my parish. I will continue to remember you in my prayers. Although we are all complete strangers, we are all bonded as "valve people". We love you & wish you well.
Hey Kelly, I was so relieved to hear from Linda Dixon, that things look like they starting to turn around for you. I am so glad. I have been thinking about you and praying for you as well. You have been thru so much just can't imagine. You are quite a young woman. Can't wait to see you get back on here. Love Linda H

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I had an aortic valve and aorta replaced 15 months ago and I thank God daily for my good health. I hope that God's healing spirit will give you strength and make you well.
I just read your story. I don't know, as I write this, how you are going, but I pray you are on the way to recovery. I had my mitral valve replaced exactly one year ago this week. Please get well soon!
Hey miss Kelly! I see you in your brightest light, I hold you with warmth and smiles and living in wholeness and abundance. I see you laughing, playing and enjoying life like you did when we were little, on the corner of Russell and your house! I firmly believe that our thoughts and prayers, along with your own, while connected to the Source of our beings is what's going to bring you back to the presence you desire. Love, love and more love, Annette :)
Kelly, I read your Heart Valve Journal. You are such a trooper. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difiicult time. Your youth is in your favor plus you have all these wonderful HVJ folks thinking about you, praying for you and sending you well wishes. There are so many of them. All those positive vibrations have to make a difference.
I hope someone is reading and re-reading to you each and everyone of these posts, if you cannot read them yourself. The support is enormous and will make a difference for you.
Bless you and I am pulling for you and thinking about you every day.

Kelly - You are in my prayers. I too was treated for Hodgkins about 22 years ago and though no one would say there was a direct correlation - you are the 4th person i personally know, myself included, who has had these issue. I had my aortic valve replaced on 4.7.2011. All is good with me - but I was scared to death. You are in my thoughts Keep Strong. Randa Gaalswijk
My aortic valve was replaced on 1/17/11 and I was fortunate to have had no complications. I am praying for you now as I write this, and hope to hear from you as soon as you are able.
Brad Hirsh Chicago
Kelly, we pray and wish your full and speedy recovery.
I am an aeortic valve surgery survivor and doing well after almost three years. With god's help and all the prayers for your recovery, I am sure that you will be well too. Best of luck to you and your family,
We are from OC as well
Praying that you and your family will see God's faithfulness every step of the way. May God grant your doctors wisdom and you and your family peace and comfort during your recovery. Love and prayers, someone who learned about you on Facebook
Kelly my heart sends all good to your heart. May comfort and calm surround and uphold you and those who care for you. May good health be yours. From. A fellow traveler on this heart surgery journey, Kim C from NH
Kelly, I've read your journal and it seems like you've had more than your share of medical problems. But I also sense that you are a person who remains upbeat and has a positive attitude towards life. With that attitude you will come through this with flying colors. I will pray for your recovery, your family that they will stay strong for you and for your medical team that they will help you through this. Pat (AVR 11/8/11)
Just reading all the wonderful messages and prayers to you, you know you are loved by many. When I didn't get your post op update I hoped all was okay and I pray now that your health will improve. You will be encouraged after reading Ruth's letter to realize how far she came to overcome complications. Prayer is powerful as is God. Keep the faith.
Hello Kelly...........I will keep you in my prayers.....I know that God answers them. I have been blessed so many times by prayers that others have said for me and He came through again and again and has restored me to health.....Now I am 82 years young and in good health...and love to pray for others in need....I will have friends also keep you in their prayers.....God bless you real good with health and happiness.....hugs.....Gram Dixie.
Kelly: I don't know you but one of my friends, Sheila Garrison, does. I will be praying for you. I had an aortic valve replaced in 1988 and had complications the day of the surgery. I got past it and hope you will also.
I've just read about your condition, and have said my heartfelt prayer for you and your family - for His grace and mercy to help you heal and your medical needs carefully monitored and corrected by those caring for you. I have experienced two aortic valve replacements in the past 12 years and it's no piece of cake - and being a nurse I realize complications can not be avoided at times. My faith and all those prayers on my behalf have been my answer and restoration. So my prayer for you is for complete recovery and healing. God bless you. Betsy Rayle - Greenville, SC
For Kelly and her Family,
I am so sorry to hear of all your medical misfortune. It just doesn't seem fair. But I want you to know that I underwent heart surgery last April at the Cleveland Clinic (age 64) and experienced complications and wasn't expected to pull through. I was unconscious in ICU for 9 days, in the hospital for 4 weeks and in rehab. for 2 weeks. After the surgery I had a heart attack which then caused a stroke and had to have another open heart surgery to do bypass surgery to repair the damaged artery that caused the heart attack. Thanks to the excellent medical care available these days and my wonderful husband, I pulled through. It was a difficult recovery, but here I am alive and doing well and with no complications from the stroke. Thank God. I hope this note give you and your family encouragement and hope. As for the sternotomy, it was not nearly as bad as I had expected it to be. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sending you love and light. Ruth Howell, Maine
You are in my thoughts and prayers also. I had aortic valve replacement last Sept. I am a strong and proven believer in our almighty God. By his stripes we are granted healing. He is always there to get us through the toughest of times and when 2 are in agreement there is true power in the Lord.
I am putting you on a couple of prayer chains in our area. Stay strong in Faith in the Lord.
Dearest Kelly, I pray Our Lady Mary hold you in her arms, comfort and strengthen you as she did her Son when he was just little. And may Our Lord bless you with His strength. May You live in solidarity with His Heart, who made you and loves you so Much.
May the Holy Spirit give you the Blessings of His Healing Countenance.
Dulce AVR April 11

Dear Kelly, I just learned from Adam that you are experiencing complications. I am sending you prayers and healing spirits from Africa to help you and guide your doctors and nurses to do absolutely the right things to get you through this trying time! Johan (Aortic replacement 3 years ago)
I am Don Henry and I had my aorta valve replaced in Feb 2000 and got an infection ( endocarditis) in my blood stream this Nov and it attacked my bovine valve and I had it replaced again on Nov 30th and this surgery was much worse than the first, but I am now 2 months post op and doing much better. I'm sorry you have experienced difficulties with your surgery and my prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery. God Bless Don
Kelly, I am lifting you up to THE great healer now! Father, God, please wrap your healing hands around Kelly and fill her and her family with your incredible peace....be glorified in the precious name of Jesus.
Kelly, I have been thinking about you and wondering. I hope everything gets a whole lot better for you and you have your amazing 2012. God Bless You and I will be praying for you and your family.
Been checking on you through your journal - my prayers are with you. God is good. I was in critical condition after mitral valve repair surgery 14 mos ago. You are going to recover and live a healthy and happy life.
Kelly, my prayers are for your healing and complete recovery in Jesus' name. Know that others are standing for you in prayer even when you can't stand for yourself. I just had surgery on Jan 26th for mitral valve replacement and repair of my tricuspid valve as well as a Maze procedure. I'll be remembering you.
We are praying for you. I had a aorta valve replaced with a 25 mm bovine valve. I, also, han a thyoracic aneursym repaired as I was born with 2 leaflets instead of 3. This was done at Clevelan Clinic 12-17-09 with Dr. Eric Roselli. I am a believer and believe in power of prayer.
My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. You have mastered previous setbacks, and I feel confident that with all the prayers and support you are getting from the Heart Valve community, all will be ok.
Don/ A.V. replacement Aug, 2011
Kelly-You can get through this. Just picture yourself as already healed, strong and well. Prayer and guided imagery work! Sending you healing thoughts from my heart.\\Michael Baity-Aortic Valve Replacement 2009.
Be assured that I have already "stormed heaven" with prayers for you and promise to light a candle for you this weekend in my parish. I also extend a big hug all the way from Miami. God Bless You,
Kelly my thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. I had a small complication with my aortic valve operation but that was almost 4 years ago now.I am a 71 year old male. HANG IN TERE AND ABOVE ALL KEEP THE FAITH.
I remember waiting with my mother after her surgery and it is an emotional roller coaster. I send my prayers out to you for a speedy recovery. God watches over all of us and today I am asking him to skip over me and give you double energy and prayers.
I had a bicuspid aorta that caused aortic regurgitation. The "gurge' finally caused an infection in my mitral valve. This caused my mitral valve to fail and gurge. I basically had the same surgery that you are just recovering from...and I am OK. Remember that you are going to have bouts of depression, so keep your chin up. Here's to your quick recovery!
Hi Kelly. We are all thinking of you. Tell us how you're doing when you feel strong enough. Let me know if you want a visitor at UCLA and I'll come and walk a few loops with you around the ward to help you on the road to recovery. Maybe you'll tire me out! -- DVB
Kelly just wanted you to know I think of you often and know you are going to be feeling so much better here shortly. You are in my prayers and I wish you a speedy recovery. Please keep us all informed. Your old friend, Debbie Kirylo Carpenter
You are an amazingly strong young woman and you are going to be better than ever before! Just remember each day you WILL feel better! We are all praying for your speedy recovery in our house! XOX
Go get 'em Kelly. In 24 hrs, you will have this over with and on your way to feeling better. You will be sore but knowing it is over, it will be a big relief. Focus on your recovery and push yourself...you will do great.
Looking forward to reading your post surgery posts.
I just read your story today, the day of your surgery.
It was a long haul for you. I am in that excruciating waiting period as you have been. I will be looking forward to hear an update from your brother that your surgery went weel and you're on the road to recovery. Will be sending positive vibes your way.
I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and I more than understand your frustration with the waiting. Usually the ones that the surgeon takes a while to schedule are the ones the go the best because he has done his research and wants to make sure he is doing what is right for you. I can't wait until we see another journal entry from you to see how you are progressing. Be well and I look forward to your next update.
Hey lady, All my prayers are for you today. I know it will all go as planned. Just remember, us Macy kids are tough cookies. You are one of the strongest people I know. Also, you will forget about all of the struggles that you have been through. The human mind is amazing. Go get em my friend, the best is yet to come!
Hi Kelly, just wanted to "stop by" and tell you good wishes for tomorrow. I'm not saying good luck because I don't think luck has anything to do with it. You will be in great hands...great surgeons guided by God Himself! You seem to be such a sweet girl, I am so happy you are finally on the way to being "fixed".
Hugs and love! God bless!
Still waiting...Linda Dixon
Great news about your surgery date! 22 & 12 are my two favorite numbers, so I think that's a good omen, right? Surgery can be scary (esp yours) & I really respect you for refusing to back down from it - I think a good attitude like yours is a huge part of a speedy recovery & better outcome overall. I'll be praying extra hard for u this week & hope you feel up to posting here again real quick. Love you!
Wow, Kelly, that's great! I'm so jealous. I guess you and Mitch and Carmen will all be in lala land together on the 2nd. You won't have time to get too nervous, although those feelings can pop up completely out of nowhere, I had one of sorts today.
We are all here for you, if you get scared, put it out there, we will make you laugh or something. You deserve this! You deserve to be all better and you will be! You will do great and in no time it will all be behind you!
Please keep us updated and hope you have someone lined up to give us updates during your surgery.
So glad to hear you are making some progress. It sure seems like SOMEONE is reading your journal and is watching over you. You still may want to consider going for a second opinion/consult. At the end of the day, it is all about what you need to make yourself feel comfortable. I am just offering a suggestion.
All the best and I hope it is smooth, fast sailing from here.
Hi Kelly, what did I tell you? Surgeons' nurse knows his schedule better than he does, lol! Glad you are finally getting some attention, not really sure about the going on coumadin prior to surgery ? to see how your system does? I don't pretend to know all, but I have taken coumadin for several years and I know that 10 days of therapy is not a reliable indicator of how you will adjust long term. So many things can affect your PT/INR. Will someone be monitoring your INR during this 10 days? Not my business, but just a thought. Still hoping you will get a second opinion. Best of luck and please keep us posted.
Hi Kelly. Let me help bolster your resolve. You are way too patient with your surgeon. It shouldn't take 4+ months to get a surgery date. More like a few weeks after tests. You are symptomatic, right? And your mitral regurgitation is graded as severe? The survival curves are not so happy under these circumstances - about a 1/2% per month loss rate. And you've waited four months so you've already encountered more risk than the surgery itself by having it put off. Frankly, considering how hard most surgical teams work to cut risk, I am not impressed with your guy's frittering the time away. So yeah, get that parallel path going, girl! You are smart to push it.
Here's the number of my surgeon's assistant Camille at UCLA: (310) 825-5841 - she can help you if you want to consider them. UCLA is a high volume center of excellence. There are other good centers in the area: USC has same day appointments with a physician's referral at (323)442-5100. And Linda has a good idea to ping Adam and ask him to help too.
What is the worst case? You get a second opinion or confirmation that your surgeon is OK after all. Best case, you find out how a really world class surgeon does this and you never look back. Get info now about another surgeon, then decide what you want to do. It is OK to pursue multiple doctors at the same time. They all encourage it and are used to it.
You seem to be calm and in a good place. Good for you! Good Luck. - Mitch Friedman
Kelly, glad to hear your scan results were good. About this trouble getting a surgery date. Get in touch with Adam Pick, you can send him an email, he is also on facebook and will accept a friend request, let him know you are a HVJ girl. He can put you in touch with GREAT surgeons in Calif. When I let him know I wanted Dr. Gillinov, he sent a note to him that day and the next day I got a response from Dr. G's staff and the next day a list of everything to get together to send to him. There is no reason you should be getting this run-around. And as for your surgeons's schedule...his nurse probably knows it better than he does!!!
Adam is way cool and he didn't just set up this site and walk away. He will help you!
I care and don't want your heart to get any worse than it already is waiting on someone to help!
The Long Beach Murrays are all rooting & praying for you. Glad to hear u have ur scan set, but after reading Mr. Friedman's entry (the gentleman from NY) I, too, am a bit worried & irritated you are facing delays like u have recently. (How cool is this forum - you've got people all over the country reading ur story & offering their experience & stories. I love it!) I hope once this scan is done u find yourself on the fast track to surgery & feeling better. Tell ur mom hello, & keep keepin ur head up. I think about u every time I go to the gym because I pass your old apt building on Ocean. Take care, Miss K!!!
Hi Kelly, I am fairly new to HVJ so this is the first time I am reading your journal since you just posted an update. Gosh, you are one tough cookie and are sure hanging tougher than most would in your shoes!!!!
I just wanted to echo past comments in your guest book and add myself to the list of those encouraging you to get a second opinion at a world class facility. Sounds like UCLA might be your best option.
I live in New York and am fortunate to have easy access to top surgeons and hospitals. No way you should accept the schedule delays you are facing. While you have much more going on than me, I did want to share I found out I needed surgery in mid December, and yesterday scheduled it for Feb 2nd. I could it have done it even sooner, but have my daughter's birthday and wanted to do surgery after that.
Plus, I have never heard of the timing you mentioned for tissue valves. I am 47 and am very active and have been told a tissue valve could last 15 years for me. One of the surgeons I met invited me to run a marathon with him, told me of patients he has that do ironman triathlons, and told me 95% of his younger, active patients go with tissue valves. I have not decided on which valve I will choose, but am leaning toward tissue (at this moment).
So, there is my 2 cents..I wish you all the best on this road we are both on.
I'm so glad to hear it's finally scheduled and that you're able to move forward. I know the waiting and uncertainty have been very frustrating. I hope that as unsettling as all this is, you have some peace in being able to move forward and getting the necessary procedures done. As always, I continue to pray for you.
Good for you Kelly! It is a shame that we sometimes have to "take the reins in our own hands". But we have to be proactive when it comes to our own health. It's like your car when "something just doesn't sound right" but the mechanic can't find it. You know your own body. Find someone that takes your health just a seriously as you do. Good luck and let us know what they find or don't find.
Hi Kelly. I had my mitral valve repaired at UCLA and the experience was magical. They were very quick - I had my surgery 1 month after I first called them. UCLA is a high volume center of excellence - exactly the best place to go. My surgeon was Dr. Ardehali, and my initial eval was with Dr. Lee. Call Dr. Ardelhali's assistant Camille at (310) 825-5841 and she can help you get started there. Be sure you mention that your symptoms are getting worse with time. By the way, I went to UCLA for a second opinion after I was unhappy with my local cardiologist. And it turned out fantastic.
Hi Kelly, I just read your journal, I am new to the site. First of all, I am sorry that you are having such a rough time and I hope 2012 will bring you answers and solutions. I have to say that there is something not right with what is happening with all of the delays. I don't know where you are going or how experienced the doctors are, but I believe you should get another opinion. Actually, I am a firm believer in always getting a 2nd opinion (I am a medical professional for over 30 years). There are CD's of all these tests you have had done, law requires that they be made available to you and you can take them for your 2nd opinion. You do not necessarily have to repeat the tests. I would also consider going to a large medical center, there are several in Calif. These centers see unusual cases every day and have the latest technology available. I will pray for God's guidance for you. Please get another opinion.
Oh Kelly, I can't believe they are making you wait so long. Please get a second opinion. Can you go to UCLA or Loma Linda? I know a few people who have had heart surgery at Loma Linda. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hi Kelly, I am so glad things are progressing relatively smoothly. I still can't believe you are going through this. Personally, I have had more surgeries than anyone I know, so I am sure that you will be fine through this ordeal. I am telling you, us Macy kids are tough. I don't know if is where we grew up but we are all survivors. You are in my thoughts and prayers daily.
You seem far too young to be facing such a titanic task in order to repair your heart; however, you have your youth and vigor to carry you through. We are all one big extended family here who have gone through very similar procedures along the way and our very survival is testiment to the skills of our Physicians and the miracle of our technology.
Hey Kelly ~ just wanted to send my love and prayers your way. I sure hope your test go well. I am sure it will. I am in Nicaragua right now so thank goodness for facebook and email. Your friend ~ Debbie Kirylo Carpenter
Good Morning Kelly!
I do think you made an excellent decision to go with the tissue valve- exactly the same reason why I would have chose if I were in your shoes.
You sound as if you are doing well spiritually and mentally too- I'm glad you get time between appts to make sound decisions.
Take care- Lori Contreras
Thanks for keeping us included in this experience. I'm here to support and encourage you. You have a beautiful spirit. Continue to stay positive, and remember that you have lots of shoulders to lean on, especially on the days that you don't feel too honky dory. :) :)
Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way
Kelly, Best of luck- I know you will do great. I can help answer a couple of your fears you have. I know a little bit about this stuff for several reasons. My husband just had his mitral valve fixed but the main reason I know about your fears is that I am a cardiac RN and your fears are very common. As SCARY as it sounds about the sternal chest crack its not that painful my patients tell me afterwards and that it's usally very well controlled with a couple of percocets. I think the scariest part for many people is just thinking about the chest crack, but 9/10 patients tell me the pain from the chest crack really isn't as bad as they expected it to be. My words of advice for you after your surgery would be get up and walk as soon as possible (yes, it might hurt the first time so make sure are medicated) but walking will definetly help speed the recover process and it lifts the mood. Set a goal for your self: how far/long are you going to walk, and walk a couple times a day, goals will help keep you motivated and inspired to get better. You will do great!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.
Kelly, We just heard. It's really sad that it takes something this serious to bring out the long, lost relatives. Please know that we are on-board now and have added you to our prayer chain. I have always been a firm believer in a positive attitude and feel that 90% of the battle is won through that attitude. If there is anything you or Emma need, please don't hesitate to contact us - even if it is just to hold a hand or to offer a big hug. I pray that you feel all the prayers being sent your way. I know you are in His hands. Love, Scott & Marianne
Hi, Kelly! My parents and I were very sorry to hear about your bum heart valve. (I'll check with Erin tomorrow, but I would bet she's sorry, too. ;) ) We will keep you in our prayers. I read your most recent post about how in 15 years you have no idea how much medical care will have progressed, and you're absolutely right. Hell, 15 years ago only uber-rich people had cell phones, and now every kid I know over 5 has one and can use it better than me. I have a good feeling about your upcoming surgery - didn't Letterman have the same procedure done?...And he was still able to bang all those interns - you'll be doing well in no time! :)
I signed up for e-mail alerts, so I will check back in on you regularly. Keep up the good spirits, Kelly!!!
Kelly - as difficult a time it is that I know you're going through, I am certain you will be fine! Something that I would ask you to consider is what you can learn from going through this experience that will help others in their lives. I think you're already starting that by keeping this journal. Thank you for that! FYI...Please check the new e-mail address. I don't check my @easolve.com account very often anymore. Things are going well on this end. My thoughts are with you! Miss you friend! Rick
My thoughts and prayers are with you my dearest Kelly. You are a very strong woman...(all of us in this family are…hear us ROAR!)…you WILL beat this with the help of your family, friends and God! Love your positive attitude…it will make you healthier for surgery with a great positive mind set like that….I’ve been there done that!...and it works! I know you’ll make the right decision on whatever valve is best for you.
Hugs and Kisses to ya…and all my love….Leslie…:)
Hi Kelly - Just heard about your coming surgery. Whatever decision you make about the valve replacements will be the right one for you. We are praying for your speedy recovery. Our best to you and your Mom - love and hugs, Myrna and Gary
Hi Kelly! We all have been praying for you since we found out about your condition and will continue to do so. We pray that you and the medical team will make the appropriate decisions that will lead to the best possible outcome for you. If you or your mom need anything we're right across the street.
My Name is Pete Johannsen and I am in the same boat as you are as far as figuring what valve to go with!
I am 41 so my age is at the point my Doc is recommending a Mechanical valve and taking Coumadin! BUT I am 41!!! I still consider myself in the "young and dumb" stage sometimes, and taking a blood thinner is NOT my cup of tea. Yet......if I went with a tissue valve I would have to have a 2nd surgery and remember......there is ALWAYS an option with either valve....you would need to take a blood thinner!
Please read my journal.....I have a lot of info posted in there and have had a lot of people weigh in on the option.
All I can say......either way you go is a GOOD choice! Just ONE will be BETTER for you than the other.....So either way you go....is not a BAD choice!
I am definitely going to be using something like vitamin e or maybe bio oil on my scar. I'm getting married in January so I need the scar to be as healed as possible! I'm going to post pictures of the scar each week so that people can get a guess of how the scar heals. That's the one thing that is kind of tough for me, I can't find too many pictures of scar healing on women between 6 weeks and 8 months.
Another thing that is good about the biological valve is that pregnancy would be easier, if that's something you're interested in, than if you were on blood thinners. But obviously if the blood thinners will make you feel poopy, you want to post-pone using them for as long as possible!
Hi sweetie, I am sure you are making the correct choice. Medicine will definitely improve within the next 15 years. I hope your apt. with the gastro Dr. goes well and that you can move on with your surgery. How is your poor mother? No mother wants to see her child go through this.
My name's Sara Sayle and I'm new to HVJ as well. I have to have my aortic valve replaced, too, and am also going with a biological valve. I think we're close in age, and I'm also hoping for advances in medical technology in the next 10-15 years. :P
I just read your story.. my heart goes out to you. I am 9 weeks post-op today (2nd open heart) and am glad to hear of your positive attitude, it helps! It definatley isn't an easy journey, but having a great attitude makes it more bearable! I'll be watching your story and if you have any questions, let me know. will be thinking & praying for you.
I was diagnosed with the same three leaky valves as you, and I am having surgery in Cleveland in October. My symptoms aren't as bad as yours though, and I have no idea why mine are leaking. I've never had radiation. I'll be cheering you on every step of the way, and my prayers are with you for a safe and successful surgery!
Hi Kelly. Wow, you've had a busy September, that's for sure! I am also awaiting my open heart surgery. I recently had an angiogram (which I really didn't enjoy) and today I am having a consultation with my cardiologist to get the date of my surgery.
I just wanted to let you know that you've got someone else out there who is in a similar position. I am terrified of the recovery and the pain in my poor sternum. I'm not worried about the surgery at all, I'll be sound asleep. But everyone that I've spoken to who has been through this has said that the results are amazing!
Mark Patrick - Kelly...where did this come from? Is it something you have had all along and they are just discovering it now? I will follow your progress and keep you in my prayers! You are a VERY strong person and I know this will all work out in the end. God bless!!!
Hey Sunshine! You keep that great positive attitude, and it will get you through this new challenge! God likes to test us, but we all know... You can do it!!! I am here for you, if you need anything. Let me know your surgery date? I hope I'm in town... Big hugs. Adrianne
Hi Kelly, we are all praying for you! Personally, I know how tough you are and you will pull through this like a champion. I am so sorry that you are going through this. Thank God you are still living with your mother. If you or your mom need anything please let me know.
I was shocked to see your post on FB Kelly. I will definitely keep you and your mom in my prayers through this. It does sound like you have a great outlook and that will help you a lot. Hang in there gal.
So sorry to hear you are having these major problems, and I wish you all the best for a fast and speedy recovery. I will keep you in my prayers til all is back to normal for you ,and then some extra for good measure. I closed my business so I am on here most of the time, so during your recovery period if you feel like chatting or farming holler. Follow Dr.'s orders and be a good girl. Jolene Ritchey
