Hi Kathy,

Thank you for sharing your story. I had my aortic valve replaced in April 2010 with a pig valve. To make a long story short, I will need another valve replacement in the next few years (instead of the 15 - 20 years that I was promised). I did not chose the mechanical valve due to the warfin factor, but am told that is the way to go with my second surgery. It's good to hear the plus & minus of each type because the doctors don't always share. Good luck! It sounds like you are on the right track.

Hi Kathy

I have to agree with you that this Warfin is so hard to control.I had an Aortic valve replaced in Jan 2011 and have been on Warfin since and have gone through the mill like yourself.I have been as low as 1.3 and the last few weeks as high as 5.9.Last week it was 5.4 so back to the Warfin clinic again this Monday.I ask the nurse at the clinic why it has gone so high and she explained that anything can cause a change from change of diet, stress, exerise etc.So looks like we are going to have our up and downs for the rest of our lifes.Wishing you a good recoverey .

God Bless

Alan.

Hi Kathy

Sorry to hear about your latest health issue but am relieved to know you are getting back on the bumpy road to recovery. I guess it tells all of us to be wary and alert. As I read your story I was cringing when you said you drove yourself to the hospital but I see Fran caught you up on that one. Tsk. Tsk. Do keep us posted because your story serves a purpose here in keeping everyone informed of the things that can go wrong. Keeping you in my prayers.
