John, I can now personally relate to the sickness concern. Somehow I came down with the stomach flu last Wednesday. Had not been in crowds. Just the house and cardio rehab and the only visitor was family. Still wondering if it was from hand contact of cardio rehab equipment. One will never know.

I think most all of us were worried about getting ill just before or right after the surgury. That is sure common. Concern about recovery is common also. All I can share is to first take it an hour at a time and then a day at a time. Ask questions and report issues and concerns right away. Stay on top of the pain. I encourage you to follow the protocol they have. It is based on getting you better in stages. The key thing I had to avoid was getting ahead of myself. I found I was worried about the future not focused on the present so I had to readjust my focus.
John, great success to you!

John,
God will be with you, your family and the surgeon and medical staff. I thought I would be incredibly nervous the day of and the day before, but my faith and an amazing radio staton programming really calmed me down. Sounds like you have been thru way more than most of us heart valve surgery patients. Trust in God, listen to the nurses and take it one step at a time.

Sure sounds like you are ready. There is a certain relief when the day is almost upon us. Perhaps, if you are a football guy, you'll have a chance to watch some of the games today.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. The very best of success. Here's to a great outcome, John!

Welcome! Man, you sure have had a lot to deal with. Now, on top of everything you have AVR. I get your relief to have the surgery and your concerns about complications. Everyone on this site have a few things in common - valve surgery and the desire to live event free lives. Feel free to post questions and thoughts you may have. I have found folks very helpful in answering my questions and being highly supportive. All the best.
