Jeff,
Reading your journals are really reassuring, today when the visiting nurse came for his INR she felt he was in NSR.
I have been checking throughout the day and I think he may be in NSR or at least in and out. Jeff, he is having trouble sleeping is is currently in a reclining chair it is to painful to sleep in our bed he is telling me it is pulling the sternum when he is laying on a few pillows again he had his surgery 7/24.
Glad to hear he is getting back to NSR. My a-fib gradually got less and less. Healing takes time. Unfortunately TV makes us believe healing happens quickly. It's not the reality. I spent the first 3 months I was home in my recliner. Couldn't sleep in bed either. The main thing is to be wherever he is comfortable. If its the recliner then that's where he should be. Rest is important so he needs to make sure pain is under control. Now is not the time to be a hero. At least that was my experience. You really do have to take it one day at a time. You are in my prayers. Take care, jeff

Jeff,
Dropping a few lines to let you know my
husband had AVR,and MVR to much
cacification on the mitral to do a repair,so he had to replace both. MY husband was
in normal sinus rhythm for 12 hours after
surgery then went into a-fib. He is on metoporolol and warfarin hopefully we can
can him back in sinus as we went with bovine valves so he with not be on anticoagulants. If you have any insight
please drop me a line. Prayers to all scheduled for upcoming surgeries.
I'm so sorry to hear he went into a-fib. I've been told it is not uncommon for this to happen after surgery. The heart gets irratible when it's had so much done to it. I went into a-fib about 24 hours after my second repair. It didn't last too long. I was already taking metoporolol and I am taking it to this day. My a-fib isn't chronic so I have break-outs occasionally. The medication seems to control it quite well. I don't have to take a blood thinner although I do take the 81mg aspirin if I have an episode. I hope your husband converts back to sinus very soon. A-fib can make for some anxious moments. Luckily he was in the hospital when it happened so they could start treatment right away. I've been living with a-fib for about 18 years now and take metoporolol daily. I also double up on the meds if I feel it happening. The doctor also told me it probably occurs and I don't notice it. You and your husband are in my prayers. Every day is one step closer to getting back to normal. I hope he is doing better. Take care, -jeff.

after valve surgery.
Continue to do well, and again thanks
for writing.
Godbless,
Thanks for signing my guest book. I hope everything went well with your husbands surgery. The surgery is not a trivial matter even though it has become "routine" to most. I hope your husband is resting and recovering well! It just takes time... Take care, jeff

I\'m adding my thanks to you for reporting so many years later. When one has this surgery, the doubts remain for a long time. It\'s nice to hear from someone who had this so long ago.
Thanks,

Hi Jeff
glad you found our site. i had a bovine valve and tricuspid repair this past March at the Cleveland Clinic. You didn\'t mention it, but assume you\'re on coumadin with your a-fib? I\'ve been on it for 15 years. We were hopeful a MAZE procedure done during my surgery would correct the s-fib, but not so. It\'s managed well with medication and am used to it. Thanks for telling us how well you\'ve done so many years after your repair.
