Hi Glenn, great and successful story. Now how long did it take you to start running again after your surgery. Were you a runner before ? I am a former runner, but i am at 3 month's Post op OHS/AVR, and sitting wondering how much more time i need t'ill i can run again(not like before) but i would be happy to be able to do just 5km. Good luck and keep running, it's a great sport !

Glenn Walsh It was about three months when I was able to run again and it wasn't until five months after surgery until I could run a race. I was a runner before. But it seemed like it took forever to get up to running three miles without stopping. I think the first run I made after surgery was about a half mile and then I walked home. The next week was 3/4 of a mile and so on and so on. Good luck getting back out there.

Glenn and Kristin,
Great news. Now the recovery process begins.
My next step is going back to work. And hoping my BP gets back in control. Post surgery it was 25 points lower than pre surgery. Last week it shot up higher than pre surgery. But my primary did a minor adjustment to them today. We'll see how that goes or if it is just going back to the routine jitters.

Glenn,
You will be fine. I know that God will be watching over you and the surgery team, and your family.
The time in the hospital should be the worst part. Then healing and rehab at home. My time at home will be up this week. Back to work for me.
I'll pray for you all and watch for updates.

Glenn, I am back where you were at one time -- watchful waiting. Due to a traumatic brain injury when I was much younger, anti-coagulants are out of the question. I hope my procedure when the day comes will be the Ross.
You are in my prayers for comfort, peace, and progress and healing.
Blessings, Ginger

Happy to have you here. My husband is just 19 days post op and this website has been our greatest source of help. You are definitely in good hands at Mt. Sinai. Besides choosing the right team to do your surgery, the next most important asset is keeping a positive attitude, staying motivated, and trusting your support team. You will be on the road to recovery in no time.
