I'm looking forward to be where you are at - at 5 months. I was diagnosed 5 years ago with an aneurysm and BAV. I joined this site when I found out I needed surgery even though I had been reading this site since it was started by Adam. I had surgery on Oct. 8 where my surgeon, Dr. Greason at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN repaired my AA but was able to save my valve since my numbers were good. Do you feel any different? I found at 9 weeks post op that I have so much more energy than before surgery. Isn't it great to be on the other side of surgery? I can't believe I lived with this for 5 years. Glad you joined this site.

I was, however, at the Brigham today for a post-op echo. Dr. O'Gara is my cardiologist.
You are getting some great workouts in. Good for you.

Yes my workouts are great and I'm back on the ice coaching my 7 year old in hockey also. My surgery was done at Brigham by Dr. Prem Shekar.. What a guy, he was amazing! Had a bovine aortic valve put in and had my aneurysm repaired

Terrific and encouraging to see how well you are doing. I also run. Could you tell me when you were able to start running after surgery? How does your running now compare to running pre surgery?

Christopher Connelly Hi Jim congrats and hope you're doing well! Go through Wellesley all the time and in Boston from time to time big bruins fan! Also have summer house on south shore. I was walking like crazy for 6 weeks and ran 2 miles at 7 weeks but was about 10 weeks before i felt normal exercising.now doing 4 miles 4 days a week. Little slower than before surgery but mainly focusing on time and distancenot speed. Running about 5.8 to 6.0 mph on treadmill. Who did your surgery?

I am one month behind you. I had my surgery 8/2 and not a great runner but doing 1.5 to 2 miles 3 times a week. I also walk 3 or 4 miles a day at a quick NYC pace. We are truly blessed. So nice to meet you.
