I underwent the exact same surgery 3 months ago - and I'm doing great! Also, my scar is finally starting to soften up and look a lot better. This is happening faster than I expected. Good news for a gal that has places to and things to do :) I will keep you in my thoughts and will be wishing you a very speedy recovery!!!! Now it's on to other adventures for you!

From what' I've researched on the internet, it seems like young people have fresher nerves and tighter muscles, but heal quicker, so she may feel relatively more pain than older patients, but for a relatively shorter amount of time. Hang tough there, mom. Mentally, it's probably harder on you than it is on her.

Wow! What a whirl wind of a day. I know it was hard for me when they cancelled my surgery not once but twice. Again, Dr. Deeb is the best and the staff is awesome. You are going to do great. Make sure you tell your mom to take it easy and rest when she can. It will be hard on her the first few days. I will be at UofM on Friday for my 3 month checkup so if your still there and you or your family need anything let me know.
Stay strong your almost on the other side of this and then things get easier everyday.
God bless you tomorrow!

Caroline, although I barely know you, the one time we met at Denise's birthday, you left such an impression on me. You are a young beautiful, courageous woman with a beautiful heart and soul. Stay strong and know that our prayers and God are with you, your Mom and your Dr. Deeb.

I am sending you all the best wishes for the next few weeks. You are still one of the strongest gals I have ever met, and I am extremely sure that you will thrive through your recovery, and be back at it in no time. You are an incredible person , and as a person now in the field of researching developmental disabilities, I am so thankful for you and all your passion. Take care of yourself, and before you know it you'll be back to doing everything you love!

Dear Caroline, I use to work with your Mom before she had you! When you came she was over joyed and so were we! You are stronger than you realize. Stay positive and channel your healing and see yourself doing the things you used to do only with no pain and with no limits. You are a wonderful person with a heart full of love and you are going to be stronger after the surgery! I am going to think of you healing your heart everyday! You have to believe your healing is starting today as your body prepares for this surgery. You are surrounded by love and that will make all the difference. Love your heart, send it messages of healing everyday.

Welcome to the site Caroline! I am 16 days post surgery for mine and feeling really good. I went through the same emotions you did. Crying, fear, anger, and now I am on the other side of surgery and hopeful for getting on with living life nornally. Keep posting, I have found those fellow OHS friends on this site are supportive nd helpful with suggestions and tips. Its nice to know we all have been through similar experiences and I know before surgery I found strength and hope here. You can do this and will feel better after surgery.

We have so much in common. First graduated from CMU in 1991. Second, same condition as you. Third, Dr Deeb performed my surgery one month ago. He is a great Doctor and did a great job on me. He was great with my family as well. The staff at UofM was awesome as well. You are in great hands.
You are young and it sounds like you have tried to stay active. This will help you as you move forward. Honestly, the first couple days suck but once you get up and start moving around you will be amazed at how much you improve each day.
If you ever need to talk or have a question you can contact me at any time. My e-mail is email@example.com.
Good luck with your final class.
Caroline: It is so crummy that you have this condition and need this surgery but I am so grateful there is a cure for your condition. We will get thru this together. I can't wait to have you home so I can spoil you and take care of you. Tim and I will do everything we can to make this as easy as we can for you. You are strong and have so much to give to others. I know you will come through this an even stronger woman if that's even possible. I love you! Momma
