I too have taken on many cost saving ways. I recently called several insurance companies and reduced our homeowners and car ins by 800.00 for the year. I too did the reassessment. Also, by unplugging everything in the house except the phones and the computers, we cut our electric bill by 70.00 or better per month. The electric shocked me - it is amazing how the items still use power even though they are off - we went around and tested them and sure enough the machine showed how many watts they used when off.

Couponing is another huge savings. I wait for sales and then use my coupons and in 2008 my savings was over 10,000.00 (no that is not a typo) I don't do anything now without sale and coupon - oh and ask for a discount - most stores give it even if you have no coupon.
