Adam: I believe all health care programs need improvement. Our country is pretty good to people that are sick and need help. Hospitals give out hundreds of millions of dollars in free care if you need help. My family had to go to municipal clinics when we were sick and poor.
My Medicare is more expensive than the plan I had when I was working and has many inefficiencies because it is run by politicians and bureaucrats. The government sets prices on pharmaceuticals that are higher than you can purchase them locally. Our current government has just made a deal with the pharma companies to continue the practise and accepted $80mil in prepayment.
The 46 million people that do not have health care in our country are comprised of 12 million illegal aliens, & 20 million Americans who choose not to have health care insurance. The balance should be taken care of by the taxpayers and forget about forcing the rest of us to join a program that will be inefficient and run by the government.
If we continue to support Gov't run programs, most of us will not have valve replacements in the future.

Adam, thank you for putting this video on the blog. Too often we hear from folks who have insurance, we don't hear from the people who have been denied health care or who can't access health care. Interesting that people are so sceptical about gov't run health care. The gov't had been running Medicare and Medicaid for years and many Americans are dependent on this gov't run health insurance to stay alive. There is no question in my mind that we have a several tiers of care - folks who have good private health insurance, folks who have mediocre health insurance and people who have none. Many of our nation's children fall into the last cateogry which speaks poorly for the outlook for future generations.

Leslie,

I have had United for quiet awhile now. They have always treated me right. When I had my surgery they always paid. I was never denied anything!

I have one question though. If you think it's this bad with insurance companies, do you think government run medicine will be that much better?? I do believe we need to make some improvements within the industry, but I definitely DO NOT SUPPORT a completely government run system.

Adam - Printing this is very one-sided, particularly after I submitted a polite comment after you informed us of a congressman's surgery not too long ago. I don't believe you published that. If you are going to get political on us, please do your research and be prepared to present both sides. Thank you. Lori Williams
