Robin Williams Jokes About ‘Heart Valve Surgery’ With David Letterman

May 14th, 2009

After double heart valve surgery…. Robin Williams is back!!!!!

Last night, Robin made a special appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

As you would imagine, Williams has easily managed to transform his mitral valve repair and aortic valve replacement experience into some great, stand-up comedy. I especially liked the funnies about cow valves, pig valves, mechanical valves, The Cleveland Clinic and Dr. A. Marc Gillinov (his surgeon).

To watch the interview, simply click the ‘play button’ on the picture below and please make sure the sound on your computer is on.

As Williams is one of my favorite actors and comedians, I was also thrilled to learn that Robin will resume his tour, Weapons of Self Destruction, on September 30 in Bloomington, Indiana.

Keep on tickin’ Robin!!!

Thanks Adam – I loved it!
I will be having my aortic valve replacement surgery early next month and have also chosen to go with the cow valve – mostly because of the information I have learned on this website. It was awesome to see Robin Williams (same age as me) doing so fantastic after just 2 months. Very encouraging.

I am scheduled to have my aortic valve replaced May 20th. I too have choosen a Bovine Valve due to work(Fire Fighter) and lifestyle (I’m 43). I’m know I’m in for a few cow jokes!!

Thanks for posting this – laughter is a great healer! I, too, have a bovine valve, and after ten months, it’s still doing great. I joke that it’s payback for my doing funny cow imitations – crossing my eyes and mooing….

I too absolutely love this man and once again proving you have to be able to laugh at all situations and just be happy to be alive.
