Heart Valve Surgeon Directory Update

April 15th, 2009

So you know…

The response to the beta launch of our HeartValveSurgeons.com has been very favorable!!! I have received positive reviews from patients, caregivers, nurses, cardiologists and surgeons regarding this unique, online tool.

Thankfully… Many of you provided thoughtful comments about how to enhance the function of the database.

That said, I have already implemented several changes in between Ethan’s diaper changes. Those changes include:

  • No more duplicate surgeon pictures. Now, the database presents one surgeon picture with multiple, patient listings (if available). This will definitely make the database less confusing.
  • The zip code function – for United States patients – has been fixed. You can now search by zip code and distance (miles) from that zip code for surgeons.
  • The presentation of text within the database search results is now top-aligned versus center aligned.

Thanks for all your constructive criticisms! This is exactly why we launched in “beta” or “test” mode. I wanted to find out what YOU liked or disliked about the heart valve surgeon database.

Also, the surgeon profiles continue to increase!!! I think the database now stores over 330 surgeon profiles in over 25 countries around the world. To add your surgeon, please click here.

Keep on tickin!

Adam

I am due to have an aortic valve replacement on the 1st of July and am now doing all my homework. The cardiologist/cardio thoracic surgeon community in Cape Town is fairly small and to date only one surgeon (not the one scheduled to do my operation) was listed on the database by a patient. It would be immensely useful if there were a way in which others could contact such a patient. Their privacy must of course be protected, so it must be with their consent. Johnnie in Cape Town
