CNN Video: Rene’s Robotic Valve Surgery
Since announcing the upcoming webcast about robotic surgery from The Cleveland Clinic, my inbox has been flooded with questions about the minimally invasive, Da Vinci Robot.
To help you learn more about the Da Vinci robot, I located an interesting, patient video about Rene Lepage from CNN that highlights the technology and the benefits of robotic surgery for mitral valve repair - for disorders including mitral valve regurgitation. (Simply press the play button on the image below to watch this video. Also, please make sure that the sound on your computer is on and turned up so you can hear.)
Also… one of the questions I keep getting about robotic surgery is, “Will my heart stop during robotic surgery?”
The answer to that question is… yes. Similar to a traditional open heart surgery in which the sternum is split, the patient’s heart will be stopped and then restarted during the operation. To learn more about how your heart is stopped and started, click the following links:
I hope this helps you learn more about the Da Vinci robot for heart surgery.
Keep on tickin!
