After Valve Heart Surgery, Robyn and I Are…. PREGNANT!!!

September 30th, 2008

Since launching this website and publishing my book, I have been incredibly lucky to meet and become very friendly with many, many, many heart valve repair and heart valve replacement patients and caregivers around the world. Needless to say, I am blessed to know you. And, I consider all of you a part of my family.

On that note, I have some wonderful news to share with you… Robyn, my wife, and I are expecting our first child – A BABY BOY!!! :)

Robyn recently entered her second trimester. All the tests (and we’ve had a bunch done) suggest that we are going to have a healthy newborn baby around April 11, 2009. Here is a profile ultrasound of Lil’ Baby Pick:

As you would imagine, Robyn has been amazing through her first trimester. Luckily, she has yet to have any real morning sickness. (To compensate for her lack of nausea, I had an allergic food reaction last weekend and vomited up a storm.)

This is one of the happiest times of my life. Thanks for being a part of it!!!

Keep on tickin!

Congratulations Adam and Robyn!

Your’re about to have another life alterating event that can not fully be descirbed or understood by those who’ve actually gone through it. Kind of like having your chest cracked open only it’s a lot more exciting and rewarding (and much less painful for the men at least!)

Good luck and enjoy this special time!

Congrats to you both. That was some surgery you had, if it enabled you to become pregnant as well as Robyn. :-)

That didn’t make much sense!
I meant get ready for an experience that can really only be explained or understood by someone who HAS gone through it. Look forward to welcoming you to the club!

Sincere congratulations Robyn and Adam on your great news. I know this is an exciting time as you await the arrival of your son. I have a grandson, age 4, and a grand daughter, age 8 and very fortunate that they also live in Richmond.

Congratulations Adam and Robyn! What an exciting time for you. I think you ought to let your “valve family” help name the baby. :) I’m just so happy that Robyn hasn’t been sick but so sorry you were. Please give us regular updates and know that I’ll be thinking of you both.

Sincerely,
Julia Hightower

Dear Adam and Robyn,

CONGRATULATIONS on the beautiful news of baby Pick’s imminent arrival!! My husband, Kevin Neuhoff, had his mitral valve repaired by Dr. Vincent Gaudiani (what an ACE) in San Francisco May 8 and your book and blog are a big part of our new life together. Kevin was the POSTER BOY for valve repair with a swift, calm, speedy recovery and we thank you a million times over for sharing your experiences. Keep on tickin’!!!
love, Mary
p.s. thanks too for the incision shield!!!

Congrats Adam! You book has been very helpful. I go in for mitral valve surgery – hopefully a repair – tomorrow morning. The surgeon is Dr Gaudiani at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. What you have done with this web site is quite needed and helpful to patients and caregivers.

All,

On behalf of Robyn and Baby Pick, I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for your congratulatory comments above and emails.

Needless to say, Robyn and I are overwhelmed by your excitement for us and the Lil’ One growing in Robyn’s tummy.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. (I could repeat that term a thousand times over but I figured three ‘Thank yous’ was enough to communicate the joy my stitched heart feels right now.)

Now, as for Baby Boy Pick…. Robyn and I (plus every family member out there) are playing the name game. When we narrow down the choices, perhaps I’ll set up a poll to see what you think about our top three or so.

Until then, thank you one more time. And….

Keep on tickin!

Adam
