I am always looking for online videos that might help patients and caregivers better understand the heart valve surgery process.
I don’t know about you… But, as double heart valve surgery patient, I always wondered, “How is the heart valve replacement stitched inside the heart?”
Yesterday, I was on YouTube.com when I saw this interesting video about how cardiothoracic surgeons suture (stitch) heart valve replacements into place. The video also illustrates some differences in the suturing process for mechanical heart valve replacements [1] and tissue valve replacements [2] (e.g. pig valve replacement [3]).
