Heart Valve Replacement Help!

October 27th, 2007

The thought of having heart valve replacement surgery can be quite scary. I speak from personal experience considering I have had two heart valves replaced – my aortic and pulmonary heart valves were replaced a few years ago.

Upon diagnosis, both the patient and their caregivers can experience emotions including confusion, anxiety and fear. Needless to say, the thought of open heart valve replacement is overwhelming.

However, I have developed this website and written my book, The Patient’s Guide To Heart Valve Surgery, to help you, the patient or caregiver, manage the heart valve replacement process – from diagnosis through recovery.

I’ll be the first to tell you that heart valve replacement surgery will take you out of your comfort zone. But, and it is a very big but, there is a lot of good that can come from a successful heart valve replacement operation. Most of of all, thanks to the technology and surgical skills available today, you will live a longer life thanks to heart valve replacement.

And… You should know this fact. I recently conducted an extensive study of heart valve surgery patients. Most of them (88%) suggested that their lives were better after heart valve replacement surgery than before their heart valve replacement operations.

That may not completely eliminate the fear you might be experiencing right now. So, feel free to read an excerpt from my book by clicking “Dispelling The Fear Of Heart Valve Surgery”.

Also, you should know… I’m here to help. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have about heart valve replacement surgery or heart valve repair surgery.

All the best to you…

Keep on tickin!
